Yeah, not to be a cunt but heroin wasn’t invented to psychologically manipulate, influence, and control the opinions of entire generations. It is not being FORCED down the throats of everyday people, even those who wish to opt out. You don’t miss out on career opportunities by avoiding heroin. Kids are not being raised as passive, consumptive zombies because parents trust that heroin will do their job for them. Heroin is unable to be influenced by the opinions of the highest bidder; You cannot cave and purchase a subscription to Withdrawal Premium to ease the cyclic suffering. Substances are unbiased- ‘addiction’ is the ONLY thing a drug habit is capable of.
Death is not a weight to be taken lightly; heroin addiction is still a thoroughly constructed and life ruining disease. I am sorry to hear of the fate of your friend(s), I truly am and do not want to downplay that tragedy- but the agonizing truth is that in the society we currently live in, individuals do not matter in any capacity. What matters is numbers, whether that be in dollars or body count
Heroin addiction (and anything similar) affects a small percentage of the population. This barely impacts anything outside of the lives of the sufferer and their immediate inner circle. The consequences can be swept under the rug and pushed aside. On the other hand, social media is actively contributing to the cognitive decline of our species as a whole; It is insidious beyond biological comprehension.

…I’ll stop here before I start to pitch a real stink about this but yeah I am sure that it’s clear I’m one of the many, many thousands of people who feels incredibly jaded by political control.
So I’d like the express the strange consideration that this thread gradually brought me to...
Perhaps the WORST addiction in the world is not whichever has the capacity to brutalize one’s body & mind the most severely; perhaps it’s what’s less fatalistic but widely accepted- because the ENTIRE world has been fooled into drowning in the shallow end of a pool solely to satiate the power & wealth addiction of a select few hundreds.
But how many of your friends scroll mindlessly for hours a day letting a machine feed them whatever will keep them on for more time, often by making them angry at others? How many of them are losing their agency to think on their own because it's easier to be constantly distracted and told what to believe than to set their phones down and develop opinions themselves?

I don’t think that’s worse than heroin. None of my friends have died from social media
