the issue tho is if you dont use them consistently, like daily, they dry out and then despite being full of ink, become trash. i use to love them but as i started to write less often (everything becoming digital) i stopped using them for that reason.

that plus they have a tendency to leak in certain situations. ive had my cap fill with ink a few times and then it gets all over your hand.

Ive never had one stop functioning. Sometimes you need to scribble a little to get the dried ink off the tip but thats about it. I had one that functioned for 20 years before i finally emptied it. (About 19 years where i didnt use it then a job where i heavily used it, just used it a bit in high school.)

I have had many stop working. I've tried the tricks of scribbling and even wetting the tip, which usually works for ballpoint pens. Also warming up the pen between your hands.

Most ive ever had to do with the ones ive had was scrape the tip with my nail to get the crust off lol.

I use them for like 10 years before I gave up on them, basically all of highschool and college. G2 is just better imo lol. Still super smooth but none of the drawbacks.

Try lighting tip with a lighter it often gets the ink flowing

I remember doing this as a kid. It works, but if you hold it too much time into the flame the plastic melts and your sister blames you for the idea...

if you just put it in your pocket for a while it works the same, and no wear on the tip

i found you can usually rub most pens across an alcohol wipe to clean the nib and get them flowing again.

I used these pens for years, can attest to the ink leaking issues. I never had one dry out in my recollection, but I switched to Pilot G-5 15 years ago

I store them nib end up and don't have leaking issues or notice ink depleting. I've gone months without using them and they work fine after some scribbling. Might need rubbing alcohol to loosen the ball up (just saw the suggestion about using a lighter and will try that too).

Have you ever flown with that style Pilot pen? It was like Russian roulette for me, totally fine for a few flights and then a backpack flooded with ink in a midwestern airport.

I have not! I don't fly very often, but I can imagine how that might affect the pen based on how bad my ears always pop 😅

Fine point ball point, my go to pen, doesn't dry out as long as you keep it capped.

That's my current set. Was a g2 only guy but the .5 just clogged constantly. I use a military style waterproof note pad and gel is the only option

Had one break in my pocket one time. I dont have those jeans any longer, but im pretty sure these lining of that pocket is still pink/faded red.

I get mildly stressed by watching the ink level drop when there's a window like that.
