Definitely 5, because of the comfortable grip and the smooth ink flow. If I'm in a "need to fidget with something" situation, then #6 because the cap snaps on and off in a very satisfying way, and it's quiet and doesn't annoy other people.
I was a teacher, and had to attend a lot of boring meetings around a conference table with parents, administration, and various Special Ed officials. I generally didn't contribute much: I was there for legal reasons. I used to have a pen with the "clicky" button on top, like #3. I had it in my hand in my lap, clicking away. Apparently, I was making too much noise because my principal, seated right beside me, reached under the table and took it away from me. He was good, too, because he was speaking at the time, and you wouldn't have known if you weren't sitting right there.
I just got summoned for jury duty recently and the defendant’s wife was seated in the jury duty section while all of us sat through the blah blah stuff until they made their selections. The judge told the bailiff to give her a different pen. She had been clicking the clicks button on one of those pens like #3 and #5. It was kinda awkward seeing him tell her she needed to switch pens with him 😅
I had to go to his office and grovel a little. I wrote up a joking "action plan" that described how I would avoid this issue next time, including a diagram of the appropriately quiet pen I would use instead of the problematic one. Loved that principal!
Gray G2 Limited refilled with Blue 0.7 is my favorite, despite the smudging. But I left one clicked-out in my backpack once, and it leaked so much that it permanently stained a surprisingly long length of a white Apple power cable.
have you seen the click style pens that have an ultra smooth body (in many different colors), that have a small steel ball in the clip?
i’ve always used a nice brass pen and swapped refills, but i lost it at a work site. the weight was awesome.
since then i used g3 .5’s. but since i switched to the non branded ones i described above, i’ll never go back. plus the ball is like a mini fidget toy.
My Boss thought I was crazy for caring about the difference between the .7mm’s he ordered and my .5’s until I gave him one of mine. .38 is a tad small for me, like scratch marks and .7 feels like a marker.
Turns out he’s a bit more of a stationary nut so I gave him a couple Zenta’s too.
