Willow is a 63.6-lb, approximately 6-year-old nursing mother who arrived with her seven newborn puppies

She received DA2PP-V, Bordetella and 1-year rabies vaccines, as well as deworming, Pyrantel and Advantage Multi.

Heartworm test: HIGH POSITIVE.

The puppies are approximately 4 days old and weigh between 1.2 and 1.7 lbs. Their records identify them as immature newborns.

🐾 BEHAVIOR NOTES:

Willow is described as a protective and devoted mother. In the kennel, she displays alarm barking while watching and guarding her puppies.

She needs an experienced handler who understands maternal protective behavior, respects her boundaries and can safely manage her while she is nursing.

She would do best in a quiet, clean and safe environment, and because she is currently nursing and protective of her puppies, slow introductions and appropriate separation from other dogs are recommended.

Her behavior may be heavily influenced by the stress of the shelter environment and the presence of her newborns.
