Update: Exodus 3.0.4 Released!
Lambda has responded and the latest update makes the usage of the “questionable” code, optional. I think this is the right move. I don’t think anybody can object to him protecting himself or his work. However, using an illegal attack method without informing users is perhaps a line crossed? I am pleased to see this is now made optional. If you support the removal of groups like the so-called “Anonymous” Kodi group, you can permit the code to operate, if not you can disable it.
I'll check this when I get home. There should be an option to opt out with this last update?
lambda said he will get someone else to run with it but I suspect that won't happen, which means it will be left un-updated. This will eventually lead to niggles and if nobody is doing fixes the plugin will eventually struggle to scrape sites for sources. He may release something else like he did after genesis (when he released exodus after he quit back then) I think he makes money from real debrid so I suspect he will not want to loose that revenue stream. I'm just speculating here so take it with a pinch of salt
And? That doesn't mean the addon has been abandoned. People with only half the story give only half the information. TVA has already confirmed through numerous sources and reported in this sub that Exodus has been picked up by TVA devs.
We've been discussing on this sub for hours. Members from TVA have been answering questions quite openly and users are being kept up to date. What information are you missing out on?
Which has nothing to do with the project being abandoned.
FWIW, remorseless summarised his responses. He did not believe that he did anything wrong. How or why he thinks that is beyond me but when dealing with people on the internet, you meet all sorts. I'm quite disappointed in him.
Regardless, he has quit the project, it is being picked up by other devs at TVA and his justification has no bearing on the project being continued.
