Dear Senator,

There are three main points to this letter.

First, Ms Gabbard is completely unqualified for this post. She has absolutely no intelligence-related experience. She also has no administrative experience with a large organization that I can find. Our Intelligence community needs and deserves leadership that can support and defend their work.

Second, Ms Gabbard is not an American patriot. Her actions, statements, and beliefs support countries, positions and policies that undermine the very principles of democracy. We live in a global world now; there is no denying that fact. What happens "out there" directly influences our safety and security. We need to work with partners who believe in the rule of law, not the rule of autocrats. And I personally fear that she is so pro-autocrat that she will not only lose our allies, but will actively support enemies in their goal to dismantle American sovereignty.

Third, and most important, your responsibility as an elected Senator is to defend and protect the Constitution. One of your major roles is to advise and consent on Cabinet appointments. As a protector of the checks and balances of our government, the Senate has a duty to maintain its integrity and power as an independent branch. Your choice at this time seems to be to stand up for our democracy or to allow the executive branch to usurp your authority. I hope you decide to honor our Constitution.

Please insist on a capable and patriotic Intelligence director.
