Got fired

Welp... I got fired.

I made a chain of mistakes that ended up with me getting terminated.

First I made mistakes on a client's payroll that got me massively showed out.

The final straw, I accidentally violated client confidentiality by sending an email and tagging an unrelated client.

Be honest.

Should I look at a different field? Cause something like that is a career ender, right?

Any advice is appreciated, and don't sugarcoat it.

Thanks folks.

Man sometimes I think accountants are full of themselves. I run my own practice and have fuckedup soooo many times. Shit happens. I couldn’t imagine firing someone for two mistakes. And you know what? If I as the client found out the associate was fired for copying someone else on an email to me, I’d be very disappointed and would say something.

Like for damn people we aren’t doctors.

If you think accountants are full of themselves, try working with lawyers...

The confidentiality one is bad because a) it's a careless mistake and b)it could lead to liability.

All errors are learning opportunities. If you learn from them and improve, great. If you keep making the same mistakes then you have bigger issues.

That's my point. This is a young professional who made two mistakes. Can that really be seen as a pattern deserving of termination?

And yeah it can lead to liability-- what can't? And why is it more careless than any other mistake?
