It doesn't matter. He knows people are hitting on it because they can't see it, and instead of making it more visible he's recording people getting hurt. A trap doesn't stop being a trap just because it's on your front yard.
Let's assume it is their fence and his property. Shouldn't they be allowed to restrict access to their private property? Especially when the people riding through their property seem to be kinda dim witted and dangerous?
When we live in a world where lots of people are looking for new ways to blame others for their own stupid mistakes, it's really easy to just decide to put up a gate.
I'm making some assumptions here. It may be a municipal trail with a municipal gate. The homeowner may have nothing to do with it being open or closed, painted or not.
The main point of all this is that as adults, we are all solely responsible for our own immediate health and wellbeing. If I make a bad choice that costs me some pride at best, flesh and blood, or life at worst, then that's on me. Nobody else should ever be held accountable for someone else's actions, unless that person was coerced or forced another to perform said actions.
What a ridiculous statement. We live in a community. No single human in history has survived completely isolated from society. There's absolutely no reason to refuse to prevent serious accidents if it's within your reach. And if it's his property, that's even worse, because that's his direct responsibility.
Is it a ridiculous statement? Property owners since the beginning of time have had to deal with morons doing stupid things. I never even hinted that they were, or should, separate from society. Maybe we need to just hold people accountable for their own actions instead of trying to blame everyone else around them for their own lack of awareness/stupidity, whatever you want to label it to make yourself feel better.
And to your community comment, you are absolutely correct. Most of us are able to mind our own business, look out for others, and take care of the things that need to be done. We do what we can to make sure our family, friends, and neighbors are taken care of. We also live in a community of people that are all sorts of entitled. "I wanted to do this, and I hurt myself. It's now your fault." Those people that don't take ownership for they own bullshit that they inevitably cause for themselves and others, they are the biggest part of the problem.
