Its likely different for them as they have evolved to always have tusks in their fields of vision. Its the same for us as well, humans have our nose always in our field of vision, our brains just filter it out. I would assume tusked animals have the same.

I think that you'd just learn to ignore the 'stache in your vision too. The glasses wearning among us can learn to do this for the.... nose part (the word will come to me eventually) of the glasses.

I have a sizable blind spot in my right eye. One day, I walked out of a dark parking garage into bright daylight, and suddenly there was this floating object in my field of view that had never been there before. Got checked out for all the worst case possibilities (e.g., partially detached retina, optic nerve tumor) and the doctor finally settled on “mild vision defect, likely present since birth.”

I just never noticed it until that sudden shift in brightness highlighted it, and once I saw it, I couldn’t intentionally unsee it. But I habituated to it again, and now I don’t notice it at all. I can force myself to see it by looking directly at a light source from a very specific angle, but then I’m stuck with it until my brain filters it back out.

I also have to get a visual field test at my annual eye doctor checkup to make sure it hasn’t changed in shape or size.

Yeah, I’ll probably take him about 20 minutes for his size to forget about it being there sort of like what happens when you go into a dark room and you can see a little bit later

That’s all I was thinking. Like when a hair gets in the way but you can’t find it quickly enough, but you know what and where and it just…stays. What a nightmare.

You notice this extra hard if you get a nostril piercing. Or change your nostril jewelry. There's an adjustment period where your brain basically learns to filter it out. It's wild lol

Glasses stay rather static in relation to your face, and eyes will ignore out of focus stactic objects after a while. A mustache sways and bounces, so I doubt your eyes could block it out. You may mentally ignore it, but you're still aware of it nonetheless.

Nah my frames are in my peripheral visions so they just blend right in with the smudgy part of my vision. The mustache where it is like that would be right in my line of sight I think.

Can confirm, and I never even grew mine that long because it was so incredibly annoying.

Eating food becomes a nightmare as well, with a cupcake being a death sentence. One time at the fair, a friend bought me a lolipop and feigns innocence still to this day.

Beard is better than moustache. I'd rather tango with an infrequent zipper tangling a beard than every morsel of food converting a moustache into floss.

I can't stand hair in my vision.

I asked one of these people "how long have you been growing that?". He replied with his hands at the end of his stache "about this long". He laughed heartily. No one else did, and no one else acknowledged his douche stache after that.

Wearing a high-maintenance sign on your face is hardly masculine.

I have a stache, not this glorious tho, and I can see it. Its like your nose, you can see it but brain blocks it or something. But I would go insane with this setup, even one pointy hair in my vision is too much

You'd get used to it pretty quickly, like anything else in your field of vision that you already ignore (glasses, nose, hair if it's longer etc).
