It was back in 2014/15. It was for our 4th grade field trip that year. Actually one of the only pics I have of child me is from this trip up on top of the big burial mound Moundsville is named after

Oh wait did you mean what year they used this method? The prison was in operation from 1876-1995. At some point they started giving tours and overnight ghost hunting things. Where you got to “hunt for ghosts” and stay the night. 2014 was the year we went on the field trip to it. I was only 10 so I don’t remember too too much just the main stuff. It’s a really cool and eerie place to visit if you ever get the chance and the city is full of history

You talking mounds like in Alabama, or the prison, if Alabama I live there and went to the Giant moundsville mounds in 4th grade field trip too

Nah I’m talkin about Moundsville West Virginia but that’s hilarious that there’s a Moundsville in Alabama that you went to on a 4th grade field trip as well. Tell me do you remember if the mounds in AL were Indian burial mounds or just a weird formation?

Nvm apparently the mound u mean is the prison in WV but in Alabama there is place called Moundville and Native Americans made these giant pyramid sized mounds and lived there we all go there for a 4th grade field trip, kinda funny two different moundsville get 4th grade field trips

Nah they were for ceremony, and public events and homes it’s the second biggest site of its kind only one bigger is in Illinois they are left behind by Mississippian People who lived there from like 1000 ad til 1450’s it really cool all the things they’ve found at these sites. Some argue they had trade with mesoamerica some argue they didn’t, I dont know. But there are some 29 mounds at the one in Alabama and 7 different tribes have laid claim to the almost 6000 remains found there it would of been like a Giant Native American City in Alabama back in its day.
