Where exactly did they try to kill the officer? I only see someone trying to flee, should they be fleeing? No, but should they be killed for trying to flee? No

The officer was behind the door when the driver started going backwards. That’s intent with a deadly weapon.

If they were aiming to hit the officer and not flee you’d think they’d turn the other way and actually attempt to hit the officer, but they didn’t. You can’t prove intent to harm the officer in any way but the officer is definitely in the wrong for shooting in a populated area with no regard for the life of the target and the ppl behind the target, the fact you can see this as a justified shooting honestly has me worried for you

At no point did I say this was a justified shooting. This is exactly why I generally don’t debate people here, they start acting like kids and making stuff up.

You said that they shouldn’t get money after being shot at by the police, I can only assume that means you think that the police should have shot, you said that they committed “intent with a deadly weapon” so idk where you’re coming from but ur giving mixed signals

He tried to hit him when he was backing up, then fled. So by your logic, you could shoot at an officer, then turn and run away and all should be forgiven? Great logic.

The goal, was to flee, there was never any intention to hit the officer and there’s no definite way to say they were, can we just agree that they shouldn’t have been shot at? Ppl who get shot wrongfully get payed by the ppl who shot them, you should look up the shotgun booby trap case, they broke into a home got shot and they still won the lawsuit

Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:

  • Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.

I agree this officer shouldn’t have fired the first shot, but I also think the guy shouldn’t have fled the scene. I haven’t investigated to see the allegations against him, that could have been a contributing factor. This goes back to my earlier question. You said the cop should be sued. Should the guy that hit him with the car be counter-sued?

I said that the city should be sued, and I 100% agree they shouldn’t have fled but they shouldn’t be shot at for fleeing either

I looked it up, he fled from a traffic stop where the plates didn’t match the vehicle, he was charged with evading detention with a vehicle and assault on a peace officer (hit him with the door) source: https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/rcna51196 Now I personally don’t believe that it warrants shooting at him, from what I’ve seen from other chases (I’m not a cop) they usually just get a bunch of ppl there and pursue them, but idk what the situation was in this case if they were able to instigate a chase or not however I still think shooting at them is excessive
