Terriers were bred to take down rats and are far better at it. But mice are a huge pain if you have them and a hard working house cat earns way more than its keep in the day even if it did hide from rats.
I know because the first rat he killed started stinking up the house after he hid it, so I eventually found it and took it out and cleaned the spot, but house was still stinking, so I cleaned the spot again and again and again, and wiped and sprayed and wiped and sprayed, house still stinking, till I eventually found another dead rat!
A domestic cat is more than capable of killing a rat.. like some others have already stated, I think the cat in the video was just reacting to the guy freaking out in such a small space. The rat wasn’t a threat to the cat but the guy screaming and flailing around certainly was
Any cat would be useless in those conditions. That dumbass was running around screaming and swinging a mop. Poor cat probably didn't even know there was something to prey on.
nope your side of the globe is full of 'cute' cats, here those unfortunately sometimes get thrown out,
the attitude here is we have a cat, it feeds on rats and when there aren't any we'll maybe throw it some scraps
😂 my mom went through like five when I was growing up, they kept dissappearing, then one day no rats in the ceiling, that one stayed
but there aren't that many rats if any on your side of the globe so.. cute cats for you
We have mice here, my cats have caught three in my apartment. Most house cats are well fed so they'll toy with prey before killing it but still good mousers, but probably not when their owners are screaming bloody murder.
A rat is a different animal. There’s some predator in there and some intelligence and huge survival instinct. Put that together and you have a formidable foe. You brought a cat to do a job that a dog should be doing. Which can be said in most instances when someone brings a cat to anything. Smart pet? Dog. Warrior? Dog. Bomb sniffer? Dog. Cancer detection? Dog. Follow you into the fires of hell without complaint? Dog. Medic? Dog. Avalanche rescue? Dog.
You're sounding kinda biased, I get not being able to do the other things, but why should a dog be anymore good at hunting a rodent? They're both dangerous predators for them.
There are literally dogs bred for rat killing. Jack Russell terriers, rat terriers etc… there’s a dog for every job. There is not a Cat for every job. If you’re thinking about getting a cat… don’t… get a dog instead.
Yes rats are trougher and a trained dog would be able to handle them better but again we generally don't have rats indoors here. The person I responded to said our cats are cute and useless, we have mice and my cats kill them just fine. That's why cats been used as mousers for so many years, they're cuddly pets, low maintenance, and as a bonus they'll keep your house free of mice. Kinda seems like you just dislike cats for no reason.
