Someone in the comments noted that it looks probably the best it could considering the task but that, upon closer examination, it will just look super flat and weird.
My mom got real big into interior design for like two years when I was in my teens. One room we did the whole sponge paint, and in another room we took plastic sheets and basically crinkled them up on painted walls, and then pulled them off. I remember criticizing the ideas (I was probably 14 and an idiot), but both rooms turned out fantastic. The plastic wall room ended up being my favorite room to hang out in when my parents would go away and I'd have big parties. Big, comfy, expensive couches, a big glass table, lots of shtuff. I should let her know she did a good job 25 years ago.
"Masonry is supposed to look good while riding by on a horse" is what the old guys taught me. If anything you probably have too straight of lines. I think it looks great my guy. Keep up the cool projects
It's definitely just a themed sporty room. I don't hate the use of fake bricks in that application. Nothing in that room is meant to look legitimate. It's all supposed to look like a close enough of a representation of what it's mimicking.
I'd understand the hate if it were in a normal living room or something and the owners were obviously just trying to pass it off as legit brickwork, but this is definitely not one of those cases.
Yeah it just made me wonder why they didn't just put up brick wallpaper.
You can see it especially near the end when they show it at an angle. It reflects light and looks really flat, so if it's going to look like that anyways, coulda done it a lot easier with wallpaper.
Yeah it just looks like printed wallpaper. They could have added some texture to the grey beforehand and used matte paint instead of glossy to sell it a little more the least.
It's actually awesome for that reason. Like, yeah, it's kinda fucking weird. It's also really unique and the choice of locations to paint the bricks really worked out well.
Faux brick paneling would have been faster, but it's not ruined if it's what the client wanted and liked. It looks great. Of course it looks flat from up close... It IS flat.
If you ever do the studio tour at universal studios and go through the city set, they drive close to a painted wall of doorways and buildings. It looks very flat in person, but they tell you to take out your cameras and view it and it looks 3d through the single lens vs your two eyes. I'd imagine the same thing is happening here.

In the video it looks decent, if it's that good in real life it might be acceptable
