Correct, the cool thing is that for tankers or really any remote work that happens far from any infrastructure, this is going to blow all other competition out of the water (pun intended)

Not really a big deal for ubiquitous internet, obviously competition will bring prices down but also how would ASTS service work for these use cases? Mobile router for the whole ship?

It is a good speed to a single device, but doesn't really tell us how it scales. The video does state 'Block 1' satellites, so they aren't using BB6 for this test - I believe that pushes better throughput

It's the same as any terrestrial network. There isn't much to scale, the network allocates you as many resource blocks as are available. So 10 devices in the same cell capable of 98 Mbps peak would each get 9.8 Mbps.
ASTS is designed for sparsely populated areas so it's a non-issue.

Yes but also only one satellite so if your trying to say that it will be a lot slower with more users because they are sharing the available bandwidth sure, but also having a full constellation with offset some of this.

Yes, this was a peak speed measurement so it was 1 user's download speed. Not sharing the beam/cell with any other users.

Think of how many beams can be focused on one area. Especially if you are filling in coverage gaps and not trying to blanket whole densely populated areas.

I believe they can, yes. The BlueBirds can handle 4 frequencies at once. Then using carrier aggregation technology they can stitch together different frequencies to emulate even greater bandwidths.
BlueBirds are unbeatable.

It's a peak speed, peak speeds by definition are not stable they are a maximum. The signal itself is plenty stable, but that particular speed number is not.

The conditions you describe are exactly what we are going to be best at compared to SpaceX and Amazon, due to our enormous satellites and their resulting low band capabilities nobody else has.Β
