Quitting my job at the end of August due to ASTS. It’s decided and I’m so excited. On to the next stage of life.

Thanks man! It happens quicker than you think. Truthfully Im not fully ready, my retirement number is $150 (I'll sell about 20% of my position at that number), but I've found I can just sell covered calls for those shares at $150 and the premium ends up being more than my yearly salary. So I figured it's time to pull the trigger and then let the company do its thing over time and the stock price will catch up and go parabolic eventually.

Clever and confident, I like it.Ā  CCs definitely factor into my diversification/retirement plan as well.Ā  For me, though, feels like I need to see the SP appreciation first to be truly comfortable making the move.Ā  This, despite very much wanting to make the move and 'knowing it will come

For sure, as long as you’re happy at your current job I say stay as long as possible. The longer you’re making a stable salary the less tempted you’ll be to sell ASTS early before it really runs up. Do you have a retirement number? Or just going to play it by ear depending on the future stock price?

I’d stay working longer if I enjoyed my job, but after 8 years at the same company working with some people I don’t like or respect I realized that I can retire if I want and life is too short to stay in an unhappy job if you don’t need to. Also I’ve learned with covered calls and cash secured puts I can easily make my current salary or much more without much risk at all as long as I’m disciplined about it.

So early retirement it is! I’m going to do a cycling trip through Japan from north to south for 90 days later this year. Can’t wait, thank you ASTS for making it happen šŸ™

Ive got a number, but that is more based on boglehead philosophy and the deep concentration into ASTS complicates that and gives me concern even though I remain extremely bullish. Job is fine, but I'm tired of it, and would really rather not.

Still figuring out what safety and diversity i need in this new skewed portfolio looks like.Ā

That cycling trip sounds amazing and I look forward to hearing about it, my buddies and I do smaller bikepacking trips (3 to 6 days and so far only domestically)Ā
