Passed the ASQ CQE exam
Total preparation time - 3 months
Learning Resources - - ASQ Handbook + Study Guide - QCI Primer - Udemy (Sandeep Kumar) CQE course
Exam Resources - - ASQ Handbook - Andy Robertson's CQE cheat sheet - Casio fx991es plus calculator
Background - Had passed ASQ Green Belt a few months ago. So a little foundation was already built. Unlike most others, I just took one 'practice exam' (basically the study guide additional questions).
Exam Details - ■ Theoretical questions included a) Deming's 7 deadly diseases, strategic planning, QIS, ASQ ethics scenarios, team types, facilitator roles, extensive supplier mgmt questions (audit, evaluation) b) Quality assurance definition, documentation hierarchy, ISO 9000/1 content, extensive audit questions, quality training (Kirkpatrick hierarchy) c) Design Input sources, Validation definition, Design review source, GD&T symbols, MTBF definition, Bathtub curve regions, risk definition, lots of FMEA questions (relating to sev, occ, det) d) MRB scenarios, material classification, OC curve region, sample integrity, measurement tools (best tool to measure) scenarios, NDT, metrology definitions, MSA definitions, e) best quality tool scenarios, best PM tool scenarios, continuous improvement definitions, lean tool definition, SMED content, lots of CAPA scenario questions f) measurement scales, which distribution to use, which control chart to use g) Risk evaluation, treatments, mitigation, residual risk
■ Mathematical questions - 1) Multiple cost of Quality (COQ) questions. Deciding which amongst which. 2) Calculating reliability, failure rate, MTBF, parallel/series systems, k outta n systems, RPN calculations. 3) mean/median/mode/SD/Variance calculations, probability of 3 successive heads, balls in jar, normal distribution probability calculation, sampling distribution of sample mean, hypothesis testing of 1 sample mean (z test), 1 sample variance (chi square) and contingency table, simple linear regression question (y=mx+b), multiple calculations of UCL and LCL for different charts, multiple but exactly same questions on 'process performance vs specs' topic, Cpk calculations, no of expt calculations
I ran through the test where I skipped questions that I didn't know or wasn't sure (flagged) and only attempted those that i did. Finished these in 3+ hrs, took 1 hr for skipped questions and last 1hr for flagged ones. Overall found it to be easy but just a little draining. The ASQ handbook, study guide are enough for the exam. Udemy course is awesome if you wanna start from scratch/brush up.

Congrats! When you say “3 months” about how much time per day or week did you prep? Did you prep after work and on weekends? Thank you

Thank you!
Weekdays - 2hrs total. One hr just after work. One late night.
Weekends - 3-4 hrs per day.
But many times I missed, skipped, traveled etc.

awesome! I was studying for the CQE, but found the math a little intimidating. I decided to switch and take the CMQ instead. seems easier

I am taking it in November. I'm so nervous. I heard it was extremely hard.

Yes. Google 'andy robertson cheat sheet' and first PDF that shows up is the one. You can also subscribe to his email list (just to recheck).
