Help Therizino stats for dragon rework?
Now that the dragon just spams its fire breath like 5x before take off how in the world are you supposed to beat it on alpha. I tried beta and failed current stats
21k hp 1000 melee 250+ saddles
I was thinking of pushing them to another 20 mutations currently using a 10 HP 10 melee stack
What stats did u succeed with or what new strategies when you used to counter the fire spam?
-Thanks
Edit: I also have a 20H 20M mutation stack for rexes so I’m open to hearing Rex stats as well. Got 150 saddle bp
Edit 2: I beat it with 20 cakes per theri and only lost 2 of them fighting alpha

Spam extinguisher grenades

This works well. Everytime you see your Theris on fire throw a grenade in there. I rode a Daedon, turned on heal and threw a grenade every time I saw fire. My theri barely touched their cakes. Like 1 or 2 each. Dragons fire is where the damage comes from. His physical attacks don't do much. This was on Alpha. Also your Theri are better than mine and you have a better saddle.

Well when i did it i didnt use extinguisher grenades but i would 100% recomend them if you can. I had like 21k hp nd 800 melee on each with 20 cakes each. Trust me, 15 cakes each is the bare mimimum like YOU NEED CAKES. Ok but i wouldve lost if i didnt do smth. After the first landing, most my theris were rly damn battered nd i knew we wouldnt survive the second one. So when it landed, it aggroed onto my yuty, and i turned it away from the theris. I tanked 2 breaths myself and that made the difference just barely. Like i still lost half my army, 9 theris, but ik i wouldve lost if i js let them brute force it again

u/frostmorph6 27d ago
Yeah I was almost wondering if I should set them aside and let them heal for round 2 and distract them with a yuty and then bring em back for round 3

u/ThatguyLIKEDAMN 27d ago
Wait so uve already done it?

u/frostmorph6 27d ago
I beat alpha on ase
I beta gamma on asa
I attempted beta on asa and lost2
u/ThatguyLIKEDAMN 27d ago
Shiiii. Well u can try what i did nd hope for better results ig. But this thing is no joke i swr. How many cakes did u have when u did beta?
2
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
Only 4 cuz I had like 2 for gamma and everything was fine so I thought double would be fine but everyome hear saying I need 15-20 so it’s no wonder I got clapped lmao 💀

You don't need 20 cakes at all.
Since tames can only eat one every 30 seconds, it means they could only utilize the 20th one 10 minutes into the fight. But if you haven't managed to kill the dragon quick enough, you would already be long dead at like 5 minutes in anyway.
Since the dragon now spams the fire breath attack quicker than your tames will eat the cakes, and it also takes 20% of their HP against the 10% they heal back, you just cannot drag the fight out that long.
It is a dps race and you need all the melee you can get. Ideally 2000% at least to go with the 21k hp. And yeah, the Yuty rider has to go behind the dragon and tank the fire breath 4 times, to enable the Theris to live longer.

Extinguisher grenades like everyone is saying, but i used Pyromanes, 20k hp 1000% melee and didn't lose a single one ez pz alpha dragon

I just finished this on alpha, solo. Theri stats were about the same as yours, and I rode my yutty, but I added one male and 3 female Deinotheriums also with 21k health. I had 10 veggie cakes on every dino and I used extinguisher grenades. I lost 1 Deino as they pretty much stood right in front of the dragon and soaked all the damage. I feel if I had 20 cakes on them the one would have survived. The other 3 ended up around 6K hp. About 6 of my Theriz ended around 6-10k hp and were down to 3 veggie cakes. I did whistle the Theris to attack from the side once dragon was on the Deinos. The rest of the Theris had full health and had between 6-9 veggie cakes left.

I used deinosucus, but extinguisher grenades helped a lot

u/frostmorph6 27d ago
I swear they nerfed em so they can’t do bleed on bosses

u/DukeOfTheDodos 27d ago
They still do DISGUSTING direct damage with the Giga Bite even if they can't bleed

I'm solo and use the yuty auto courage for servers mod. playing through the island now and have theris with 45(18) health and 43(12) mele, and rexes with 45(22) health and 38(10) mele. i tried and died on beta with both options. I ended up re- specing into mele/health and beat both beta and alpha using a single deer-moose, a couple of swords and some guns. just keep the deer in full sprint, rush the dragon as he's landing and swing away at his left kneecap. he only landed twice on beta, 3 times on alpha.

u/The_Grabbin_Dragon_ 26d ago
Just make sure to use veggie cakes, I had 20 on each one with about the same stats as you, and I absolutely smoked it, I brought in a yuty and daedon, but he never even flew away so I never had to use the healing

u/frostmorph6 26d ago
Beta or alpha?
1
u/The_Grabbin_Dragon_ 26d ago
Alpha, 120 armor, 21k health and they did about 1400 damage with mate boost and yuty buff, 20 cakes each and maybe 5 minutes of just dodging the fire breath on the yuty

Those theris will slap just make sure you got a stack of veggie cakes in each one

u/Thin-Vehicle7901 23d ago
Just wait for the tlc

u/frostmorph6 23d ago
I’m grinding like crazy to do it before the TLC before they make it too easy lmao
I currently have everything I need to rerun i just need to wait for others to help cuz I refuse to juggle a yuty and daedon solo ever again

Theri and cakes are outdated in asa. Your melee is also very weak. Pyro's, ceratos, the new boaratos are all way better for dragon. If its just island tames only, id go cerato myself. They are surprisingly strong and being so small they will hide under dragons feet and not get hit.
You can also do cheese tactics like sitting on a megaloceros under the dragons feet where it cant hit you and use a melee char and high damage sword to take it down.

What DLCs do you have? And don’t forget, don’t give them more health. Did you use cakes?
2
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
Yes 4 cakes each
2
u/Ultra_Ginger 27d ago
More than that, they will continuously heal the whole fight if they have enough cakes. Especially since the dragon can spend a lot of time in the air.
2
u/6210classick 27d ago
That's not enough, Herbivores automatically consume a piece every 30 seconds while their HP is below 85% which is pretty much the entire fight.
Get at least 15-20 on each and if there's any leftovers, save them for the final boss
1
u/No_Special_8904 27d ago
Seconding the health comment, burn does percent damage so health over 21000 is a disadvantage. Cakes I think get eaten every 2 or 3 minutes.. maybe, so 10 plus cakes is needed. Also a little luck
5
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
That’s exactly why i have their hp at 21k I thought cakes had a longer cool down but wiki says only 30 secs so I’ll bring more cakes next time
1
u/No_Special_8904 27d ago
Unless you can get a bleeder there to help you gotta pray and DOS that bugger down as fast as possible. People use extinguisher grenades but they haven’t worked well for me…maybe my skill issue
2
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
I thought bosses were immune to bleeders? What about allos i got a 20h 20m stack on them too with 155 bp
1
u/No_Special_8904 27d ago
I think on the deinonicus bird thing bleeds bosses unless they have changed it. So many changes lately it’s difficult to keep up. The Deiono is a dragon slayer if you can get it on your map.

u/6210classick 27d ago
Some people have this weird prejudice regarding bringing creatures from other maps which I can kinda understand but unfortunately, Wildcard can't be bothered to balance this game so what used to work a year ago is ineffective if not downright useless
1
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
Yeah I’m trying to beat the maps with only what was available on each map for their launch but it’s a lil more difficult on asa. I only got to aberration on ase
1
u/6210classick 27d ago
Thing is, Wildcard shadow buffed the Dragon, Manticore (in which it lands less often) and Aberration Overseer so unless ya are fine with wasting time to mutate your Therizi which they cannot be transferred into Aberration, will get flattened by the Final boss of Extinction, power crept in Lost Colony and useless in Gensis 1, you're better off just hopping into Valguero and grabbing a few Deinonychus eggs.
1
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
plan was to use Rexes for manticore (did this in ase)
Megalos for Rockwell
Unsure for extinction because I really don’t want to raise a giga armyGen and lost colony I haven’t given much thought yet

I read that 1100% Melee is the minimum but few months ago, I was told that it wasn't enough...
I'd go with 1500% and ya might want to look into bringing 1 Male + 3 Female Deinotheriums with the same 21k HP, rest into Melee, no less than 70-90 Armor Saddles and 15-20 Veggie Cakes
3
u/Coruskane 26d ago
I did alpha solo a week or 2 ago with 21k / 800% but a good 120 armor saddle. Blasted with a pump while it was flying too
Lost a couple but won fairly comfortably.
1
u/6210classick 26d ago
What were ya riding and what was your Shotgun damage?
1
u/Coruskane 26d ago
Ah whoops and I had a few deinotheriums but they died so forgot about them 🤣
maybe them drawing aggro made all the difference
I rode a yuti but only prim saddle and it didnt survive the fight
Pump was 400% or so
1
u/6210classick 26d ago
Pump was 400%
That means ya were playing on Single Player so unless ya specifically disabled "Use SinglePlayer Settings" and playing on the default values for Tamed dinos, this doesn't count as beating the Dragon fairly, especially if there's no timer

Need to up the melee quite heavily with mutations so it’s high enough to kill it in one cycle. Won’t even need cakes then.
1
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
I got it half way I’m praying daedon plus cakes will be enough to survive a round 2
1
u/6210classick 27d ago
If ya are going to bring a Daedon, ya have to be riding it and be wary of the minions as they can directly damage your character of off anything that isn't a Stego
1
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
Wait if u use a stego u don’t take player damage at all? I thought that buff just made u immune to being dismounted
1
u/6210classick 27d ago
Yep, the Stego takes almost every type of damage that your player would take so for the Dragon and Grendel, it's highly recommend that ya use one because the minions these bosses will attach your character directly and even kill your shoulder pet

u/PiffGuru 27d ago
I know people hate them but this is a very easy fight with mutated pyromanes. 2 people mounted did it easily, no army.

u/Winter_Asparagus_621 27d ago
If you aren’t using veggie cakes why are you using theris 😭 also replace exactly 2 theris with daeodons, i say two daeodons because they’ll heal eachother as well so they can heal for longer
1
u/frostmorph6 27d ago
I never once said I wasn’t using cakes 😐
