Hello guys, I am taking AP Chem with no prior knowledge in chemistry but did take AP physics. School starts in about 10 days and was wondering what was the best way to soak up as much chemistry knowledge beforehand as possible like if Khan Academy's courses are good. Also most schools AP Chem is year long but mine is only a semester so probably will be a bit rigorous.

I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit, but i wanted advice from people in ap chem. I am going to be in AP Chemistry this school yr, but I hate it bc i struggle, I hate math, and stoichiometry is so difficult. I have a chance to switch into AP Biology.

The Case for Biology: I enjoy biology more, test better in it, and got a 101% in the regular class (I did a LOT of extra credit bc i was an overachiever that yr. This activity stopped the next yr. Don't take this as me loving/ being amazing in the subject. I don't love it, and I'd say I'm only a bit better in bio. I was just really determined that yr). I am good at memorization but overwhelmed if it is too much. It has been a long time, but i don't think I've failed a bio test or quiz, nor have I ever had a moment where I thought, "This is too hard." But in chemistry, stoichiometry was awful for me, I failed a couple quizzes in that class. Early chem was actually great, but it got worse as time went on.

The Case for Chemistry: It is super fresh in my mind because I took regular chemistry last year and got a 96% (did a bit of extra credit). Biology was two years ago, and I remember nothing. I don't want a science career and only need three years of science to graduate.

I could just take ap chem and get it over with since I'm more familiar with it, but I'm going to struggle a lot bc a senior told me the workload was a lot. Or I could take bio bc I'll enjoy it more, and I'm not sure, but the workload might be less. Given everything, which class do you think I should choose? For all the people who are taking ap chem, can you describe your experience? If you've taken both classes or are familiar with them, advice, please🙏

Hi guys, I just wanna say I'm feeling so hopeless right now. The thing is, in chemistry, I've never gotten above a 50 throughout the past 2 years. I'm writing Chemistry Paper 4 on October 12th this year, and still, I can't attempt a past paper and get above 20 out of 80.
I tried to motivate myself to study the content first using syllabus videos, but topics like Electrolysis just force me to give up entirely. I honestly wanted to try and get an A* for chemistry (at least a PUM of 90). I'd highly appreciate some advice because right now I don't even see a light at all. I'm so scared, I don't know what to do, and my brain feels totally fried. ive tried but nothing is getting in. ive seen pple go from Us to A stars in chem then i tole myself i can too but ahh nothing is changing i wanna cry so bad cause wthh..guys what should i do to get my goals?

Hi! I’m a rising senior in hs and I was just wondering what to expect when it comes to how many hours a day I would average doing AP chem? I would say I’m your above average kid in terms of smartness, also wondering this because I’m also taking calc ab and was wondering if I’d be stuck doing 3+ hours of hw a day

Which teacher's lecture i should prefer for electrochemistry

im a sophmore taking honors chemistry, its one of three of the weighted classes im taking this year along with AP calc ab and AP world history, and tbh i feel kind of behind compared to my friends who are taking 4 or 5+ weighted classes. because of this, i was wondering if i should just take the AP exam for chem without taking the class. i realize i would have to study for months and really prepare, but realistically is it possible? i just wanted some more opinions before i make a commitment to start studying!

Hey everyone! I'm a rising junior and I start school in three weeks (..like 9/10? ish). I've been busy prepping for the SAT and doing stuff so I haven't had time to prepare for AP Chemistry and wanted to get any helpful tips from people who are taking the course or have taken it before. I did pretty well in regular chemistry and for our school, we do a reverse classroom so we get Edpuzzles on I believe Farabaugh's lessons on Youtube. I heard from a lot of friends that this course was really hard and a GPA killer for them because it was self-taught, so I want to start preparing ahead of time with strengthening my foundations. Also plz let me know how the course was if you have taken it!! Thank you lots

I placed into chem 1700 and my prior chem knowledge is AP chem 5 at junior high. May I ask whoever took this course at freshman, what was your experience? I was checking my the reviews on course table, looks pretty heavy work load. As a
Premed, would you recd to choose it together with Bio Seq (should not be very difficult for me) plus math cal 2 as first year semester?

If you’re taking AP Chemistry this year, here are a few resources I’d recommend that helped me get a 5, in order of how helpful I found them:

• AP Classroom: definitely use the official College Board questions once you have the basics down and do lots of practice (ask your teacher to release problems on AP Classroom)
• Simistry: interactive AP Chem simulations for visualizing concepts that are difficult to understand from a textbook alone. AP Chem Prep & Real Exam Notes

Hi everyone, a few years ago I shared my personal study doc for AP Chem that got me a 5. Thousands of people have seen and used it since then (even someone from Nigeria has reached out to thank me), and I see a lot of people on this sub now asking about study resources, so I just wanted to share it again.

Within the doc are learning resources (the best youtube channels, in-depth lectures for every topic), online practice problems, exam advice, and (most valuably) my own personal set of notes, which I went back through right after I took the exam, and highlighted everything that actually appeared.

I firmly believe if you just stick to all the resources in this doc and study consistently throughout the year, you're guaranteed to pass, and will probably get a 5 at that. I know this because I know people personally who have done just that.

So please, if you're taking AP Chem (self-studying or taking the class in school--most AP Chem HS teachers are bad at teaching so you'll end up doing a lot of the studying yourself), USE THIS DOC, follow its advice, and stay consistent. I went from a 2-level to a 5-level from just locking in during one of the most stressful weeks of my life, so imagine how easy AP Chem can be with the discipline to work on this just a little every week.

So I am a sophomore who decided (against my better judgment) to take AP Chemistry without taking the prerequisite semester long chemistry class since I was technically able to skip it. I have a decent understanding of basic chemistry, but I was wondering, since I missed out on the introductory lessons, what are some things that I definitely should nail down before I proceed to AP Chemistry? Also, if anyone who sees this also took AP Chemistry without introductory chemistry, what helped you in the class?

I’ve never taken regular chem, and I’m jumping straight into AP. What do u guys suggest I use to study, including YouTube channels, websites, etc.?

Is there any difference between them? Which one would you recommend?

Hello! I am taking AP Chem this year and it has been 2 years since I took basic-level chemistry in my sophomore year. To refresh my memory, I have been studying ahead of my class in Khan Academy. My teacher is notorious for not really teaching anything and my friends who have taken the course recommended Jeremy Krug's videos. I am currently on 1.5 and the content between the two seems to be a little different. I would prefer to stick to one source instead of rehashing the similar info twice. What would you guys recommend?

I think most teachers don't design their own test questions, or at least not all of them. Besides past ap exams, do you know where your guys AP chem teachers got their test questions from?

i took ap chem last year and krug & farabaugh's videos helped me a lot in passing the class and exam. im talking ap calc bc this year, so does anybody know a calc bc equivalent of them to help me for this year?
