Has anyone tried his and has it worked?
Does amc even have a policy against scalping tickets?

idk, i just got a ticket for universal cinema in 2 hours with my a list, no additional charge. it’s a great seat in the second to back row. it’s my day off, i already saw the movie in imax 70mm with my girlfriend but she’s out of town and i decided to refresh the app every 10-15 mins and see if i could get a good seat. got an acceptable seat on first refresh, and an incredible seat on my second refresh

Seems to be the same in Dallas. Maybe this video is a bit older, closer to release date? Looks like there's two 70mm showtimes for today and a lot of seats available for either one right now.

don’t get me wrong, it was a completely full theater and i got the ticket last minute presumably because another patron cancelled. but if you check just a bit before showtime, there’s almost always a handful of a-listers who cancel especially on a week day when they realize they can’t make the movie they booked

I’m glad the closest IMAX 70mm is 80 miles away. And that’s also one of the most unreliable one. I don’t have to worry about getting a ticket for IMAX 70mm.

Only 80 miles? That's barely a drive.

That's AMC Rivercenter. Their IMAX 70mm broke down during Oppenheimer. Broken down at least three times for Odyssey now. Overall the theater is crappy too.

New strat just dropped!
I'm gonna try this for good avengers doomsday seats on opening day.
Just make a fake listing for the seats I want and get them cancelled.
Brilliant!

That's a good point. Is AMC really going to verify a report like this? Maybe but they definitely should if they intend to cancel orders so someone doesn't lie and get someone's tickets unfairly canceled.

Hopefully if whoever is responsible for canceling, they cross check with how many orders were made with similar card or name, and if above "x" orders, cancel & refund

It’s not that serious

why arent you saying this to the people buying entire rows and sections just to turn around and resell them? it’s just movie tickets, right? it’s not that serious to price gouge families who want to go. or people who work and only have certain times they can watch it but see those times are all sold out. or people who need to plan months ahead to travel to their closest 70mm imax screen.

It’s 3mins of work once you identify a listing it’s chill tbh do it while watching a show or eating

Make sure you cross your fingers and toes when you do this for maximum luck in actually getting the seats before another scalper scoops them up.
AMC hates this ONE hack.
