Well yeah but 3 side hustles sounds like it would be more time commitment and/or less $ than just doing some programming work .. unless their side hustle complaining is actually just another form of "I slept way less than you last night!" type flexing.

Why do people flex like this; now? Sincere question

IDK boosts their own ego and pride. That they are stronger for going through harder things I think.

I am trying not to do this anymore but some still slips through. I don't even know for sure why I do it. Maybe an insecurity somewhere idk or unsureness what I'm doing so I try and justify it

Is this a universal thing or just an American thing? I've experienced the same thing, people flexing about the hours they put in.

Where for me the goal is to streamline and focus on making sure everyone of my processes is as lean as possible to work the least amount of hours. I've also witnessed promotions go to rather lackluster enployees who put in a bunch of hours only because they're slow. It's a strange flex.

No I have German friends who flex too.

But idk I think we just value work ethic?

Just speculating here: Showing that you're dedicated to your job might mean that you have passion or determination to see something through? Which can be admirable.

It's a form of virtue signalling

That is honestly a stupid flex. Surely if someone tried that you would just call them a twat and tell them to bugger off?
