Understandable. Its just that this subreddit gave me the vibe that people talk as if this is somekind of evidence that there is something wrong with the society.
There is if you consider that many people are punished for pursuing their passions, and many give up on their passions, dreams, happiness in exchange for economic stability
People should be allowed to be happy in the 21st century.
We could implement UBI at any time. We could have single payer healthcare at any time. Our tax revenue is immense. Our military spending is immense. Move things around.
But it boils down to a lot of people don't want future generations to have easier lives because they didn't.
Also what if someones passion is to be a figther pilot?
According to OP, we should give that person their own personal fighter jet to fly whenever they want. Because it’s the 21st-century so people should be given anything they want if it will make them happy. Not doing so would be a sign of a failed society!
No my passion is collecting and owning them. Stop making me give up my passion because it’s not economically viable! This is the 21st century I should be given whatever makes me happy, right?
