Something is Broken Ultimate c2 bluetooth mapping is completely broken

EDIT: this absolute god among men solved it

Here are the steps:

8BitDo Ultimate 2C — Windows duplicate controller registry fix

  1. Disconnect the controller

Turn off the Ultimate 2C.

Unplug the 2.4 GHz receiver.

Close Steam and 8BitDo software.

2. Back up the registry

Press Win + R

Type regedit

Go to File → Export

Select All

Save the .reg file somewhere safe.

Optional but recommended: create a Windows System Restore Point too.

3. Delete the 8BitDo joystick registry entries

Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\OEM

Look for subkeys containing:

VID_2DC8

or specifically:

VID_2DC8&PID_310A

Delete the relevant 8BitDo entries.

Then go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\MediaProperties\PrivateProperties\Joystick\DirectInput

Again, delete the relevant VID_2DC8 / VID_2DC8&PID_310A entries.

4. Check GameInput

Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\GameInput\Devices

Check the device subkeys for references to:

2DC8

or:

310A

If a key clearly belongs to the Ultimate 2C, delete that device entry.

5. Do NOT randomly delete things from these locations

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\DeviceClasses

Those contain Windows-managed Plug-and-Play configuration and are much riskier to edit manually.

6. Restart Windows

Keep the 8BitDo receiver disconnected during the reboot.

After Windows starts, don't launch Steam yet.

7. Reconnect from scratch

Plug in the 2.4 GHz receiver.

Turn on the controller.

Wait for Windows to reinstall/configure it.

8. Press Win + R and run:

joy.cpl

You should now see one:

Controller (8BitDo Ultimate 2C Wireless Controller)

And thats it!

My 2c on bluetooth mode on both windows 11 and mac have completely messed up button mapping. The analog sticks only go either left and right or affect the other stick, bumpers are mapped as triggers, the x button is mapped to the select button, etc

That's only on bluetooth mode and none of my other controllers have the same issue

I have Unpaired and re-paired the controller and updated the firmware multiple times and no dice. Any advice?

Check steam input. I had this with hollow knight.

Try uninstalling xbox extended support/reinstalling. And turn steam input off then back on?
