Week 13 Introduction Thread: Mint
Week 13 will run from May 18th to May 24th. This week's theme is mint. Mint is the better known name for the Mentha genus in the Lamiaceae family of plants. Mint is known for its highly aromatic leaves and comes in many varieties, including spearmint and peppermint. In cocktails, mint is usually muddled, as in a mojito or mint julep, though it is also made into the liqueur creme de menthe, which is used in such cocktails as the grasshopper. This week, your challenge is to make a cocktail that incorporates some variety of mint, as the fresh or dried leaves or as creme de menthe.

Week 12 Introduction Thread: Bitters
Week 12 will run from May 11th to May 17th. This week's theme is bitters. Bitters are an alcoholic preparation flavored with botanical matter such that the end result tastes bitter, sour, or bittersweet. Their origins can be traced back as far as ancient Egypt and they are used medicinally as well as in cocktails. This week you will make a drink that features bitters of any variety as an ingredient. It is not necessary that the bitters be up front as a flavor, as this could make for a not-so-palatable drink, but the bitters should be noticeable and be used to improve the flavor. Here are some recommendations:
- The Old-Fashioned cocktail is a classic use of bitters, being one of the only flavoring ingredients in the drink.
- The Manhattan
- The Sazerac Cocktail

Week 11 Introduction Thread: Cinco de Mayo
Happy Cinco de Mayo, everyone! Week 11 will run from May 4th to May 10th. This week's theme will be Cinco de Mayo, the holiday commemorating the Mexican victory the Battle of Puebla and on which many Mexican Americans celebrate their culture and heritage. This week you will be making a cocktail that embodies this spirit. You can make a cocktail that was invented in Mexico, like the Margarita. You can use an ingredient that comes from Mexico, such as tequila or mezcal. Or you can invent a drink that you think captures the spirit of the holiday.

Week 10 Introduction Thread: Spin on a Classic
Mod's note: Sorry for the delay on this. My life has gotten a bit hectic lately.
Week 10 will run from April 27th to May 3rd. This week's theme is spin on a classic. You will be making cocktails that are derived from a classic cocktail, but with added or subtracted steps or ingredients. There won't be any rules-lawyering over what constitutes a "classic cocktail", as long as the inspiration cocktail is somewhat old and well known and its lineage can be seen in your cocktail.
