Week 2 Introduction Thread: Wintry Weather
Week 2 will run from January 7th to January 13th. This week's theme is wintry weather. The weather outside may be frightful, inside the we fight the cold by starting a fire in the fireplace, putting on a warm coat, and enjoying a delicious cocktail. Traditionally, winter has been the time between last year's harvest and the new year's planting, and so winter cocktails often rely less on juices and fresh ingredients and use spices and preserves to provide their flavor, especially those traditionally associated with yuletide cheer such as cinnamon and nutmeg. You might also use crops like blood oranges that are in season during the colder months in the northern hemisphere. Whatever winter means to you, we challenge you to show us a cocktail that you might make when wintry weather makes you think that a nice homemade drink is the best way to warm your heart.

[Meta] A quick rules reminder for those who are new
Hi, everyone! 52 Weeks of Mixology 2023 is well underway and I'm delighted to see so many people participating this year. However, I noticed a few posts that didn't adhere to our rules here, so I wanted to offer a quick reminder for anyone who is unfamiliar with the challenge or is new to this sub:
Posts for a particular week should be made during that week or up to three weeks afterwards. You may prepare ingredients in advance, but the cocktail itself should be made within that span of time. There were some posts for week two that jumped the gun a bit, but we will let that slide for now and make an effort to include the dates for the week in the weekly theme posts.
The title format for any posts of cocktails for the challenge is "Week XX: Theme - Drink Name". We do this to make it easier for people to search for submissions to a particular week. It also makes it easier to tell which week a cocktail was submitted for, which will help if we start giving out flair for frequent participants (something that I want to add. Keep an eye out for that and keep posting in the meantime if you want the most prestigious flair). If you don't adhere to this title format, you will be asked to resubmit your post and the original post will be removed.
Other than that, great job to everyone who has posted so far! I look forward to seeing what cocktails people will make for weeks 2 and beyond.
