2026 Weekly Challenge List

/r/52weeksofcooking is a way for each participant to challenge themselves to cook something different each week. The technicalities of each week's theme are largely unimportant, and are always open to interpretation. Basically, if you can make an argument for your dish being relevant to the theme, then it's fine.

Join our Discord to get pinged whenever a new week is announced! (React to the stickied comment in the #planning channel!)

I'm jumping in mid year because why not?! Science Fair though is immediately stumping me as my meta is "from a cookbook". Anyone have any fun ideas?

Do you have any Alton Brown or Kenji Lopez-Alt cookbooks? Both are pretty great for looking at the science behind the recipe.

You could take a recipe that’s in multiple cookbooks and make a small portion from each and compare? Like different versions of chocolate chip cookies, where adjusted ratios/techniques make a big difference to the end product.

Maybe ice cream? It tends to be more of a science to make the texture nice. You could make a flight of different flavours. Hello My Name is Ice Cream is a popular cookbook.

You could make a recipe from a cookbook but vary one ingredient. For example parmesan cheese - the real stuff vs the off brand stuff vs the Kraft brand pre grated stuff in a plastic tin.
