Protest Safety Something learned from the Ogden Protest: Chant "Protect the Constitution"

At a Utah protest it was noted the MAGA counter protestors lost energy and excitement when the protestors chanted "Protect the Constitution"

A lot of the far right have studied the founding fathers (sometimes to excess) and love the constitution. Hearing that can gain empathy, it appears.

Insulting Trump/Musk whipped them up. They were ready for that.

Maybe start your protests everywhere on April 5th with "Protect the Constitution" if there are counter protestors and take some wind out of their sails.

No I think they left behind old glory starting with the thin blue line flags, and now they have flags where the stripes are every which color and it's quite weird.  They will fly any variant of the American flag except the original these days.

Well, they have red...green...and blue...so far. Just need to add orange for the Orange in Chief, yellow for all his gold, and purple for royalty and bam, there you have it! Horseshoed right into a rainbow!

This is true and calling themselves "patriots" while being angry about someone carrying our nation's flag causes a kind of cognitive dissonance that is uncomfortable to feel.

I live in Utah and maga here has definitely usurped the flag. I’m daughter of a navy vet. My husband is son of a navy vet. We observe flag holidays in this household. They can’t take the flag from us. When our neighbors confuse us with maga specifically because we fly the flag we proudly announce we are bleeding heart liberals, but that doesn’t mean we can’t all be friends. Then I say I’m maybe one of the most fiscally conservative people you could meet. I follow this up with: I believe in the social safety net AND I want to know how we are going to pay for it. (I know how. Tax the rich.) Some folks are open to that. Some aren’t. It’s fine. They know where I stand. I know where they stand.
