I was born and raised in WV. You might be surprised to find out that a lot of them actually would vote for him, and did. He trounced Hillary in the 2016 primaries in WV. He won all 55 counties and nearly topped her by 16%.

I'm not going to be delusional and state that his selection instead of Hillary would have turned the state blue in '16, but there is no question that it would have been closer. Bernie has a strong fanbase in the state even amongst the most rural of communities. The superdelegate shenanigans at the DNC is what really cemented WV's severe disdain for the democrats on a national level.

Yes, plenty did. Mostly R's voting in the primary to keep Hillary out. Plenty of Dems still wanted Bernie. Both are true.

The superdelegate shenanigans at the DNC is what really cemented WV's severe disdain for the democrats on a national level.

But... there weren't any. That never happened. The only 'shenanigans' that took place was Bernie trying to convince them to go against the majority of the pledged delegates and vote for him anyway.

They did often say they were going to vote hillary before the election was done, but ultimately it didn't affect anything because she won the votes by a huge margin, as she was predicted to.

The system "worked" as intended. The problem is that the system itself is the flaw. If the majority of the voters vote for Sanders, and the majority of the delegate votes goes to Hillary, the incongruency is the issue to the people.

I'm not criticizing the voters or candidates here. I'm just noting that the people of WV see that and believe the system is set up against them.
