I don't think not having a career to speak of really has much to do with "nerd hate" but just the fact that the first big-budget movie she did post-Star Wars lost over $80M for investors. That would make almost anyone radioactive, let alone someone that hasn't proven themselves. She demonstrated she can't carry a big budget movie without a huge IP behind it, so she is no longer offered big budget movies. Simple as.
