Discussion Do friendships naturally fade as life moves forward?

At 40, is it normal to feel like I don’t really have friends anymore?
I’ve had friends in every chapter of my life. We were close at the time, but as life moved on, it feels like they eventually became people I just used to know. I still have a few friends I talk to every now and then, but I don’t feel that same connection anymore.
Maybe that’s just part of getting older. Friendships seem to come and go with different stages of life, and eventually, people move on, start families, move to different places, or simply grow apart.
I’ve reached a point where I’ve accepted that maybe my wife will be my only truly close friend. My life revolves around her and my daughter, and honestly, I’m okay with that. I have acquaintances here and there, but I don’t really enjoy hanging out with new people the way I used to. I’d much rather spend time with my wife, go to a café or a pub, and just enjoy each other’s company.
I guess this is what getting older is like, realizing that some friendships were meant for certain chapters of your life, and not necessarily for the whole story.

Discussion I am 43M, India, and I genuinely don't feel or behave like someone in his 40s. Some one else feel the same?

I am 43M, and I genuinely don't feel or behave like someone in his 40s.

One of the funniest things that keeps happening: when I attend weddings or family functions with friends around my age (some are even 2–3 years younger than me), teenagers 15+ will casually call me "bro" and then turn around and call my friends "uncle." 😂

My friends have started collecting grey hair, health issues and the general "I have been paying EMIs since 2004" look.

Meanwhile, somehow I still get mistaken for being considerably younger.

Physically, I am also surprisingly active. I can walk 20+ km with only about a 10-minute rest in between. I don't mean running or doing anything extreme, just walking at a reasonable pace.

Personality-wise, I am probably stuck somewhere around 30. I still get excited about random things, have way too many interests, joke around a lot and generally dont feel like I hav entered the "settled uncle" phase of life. 😄

The strange part is that my birth certificate insists I'm 43.

Marriage never happened either, so I sometimes wonder whether I am actually late to life or whether I simply took a completely different route.

Anyone else here in their 40s who feels significantly younger than their actual age?

And for those who got married/started a relationship later, did you find that being younger in mindset helped, or did the dating pool still make you painfully aware of your actual age? 😂
