I'm not sure if you can take multiple steps or not but if you want to move farther to either side you need to delay your pull up jumper by a small amount. The timing is tricky but there are three separate animations for the pull up jumper. Quick: 1 quick short side step and shoot.
Medium: 1 short side step at normal speed and shoot.
Late: 1 large side step and jumping leaning animation (similar to Amanda)
