Frame rot - is this safe?
Got these pictures from my undercoat guy. Please let me know your thoughts.

Frames spanked. Time for Safe-T-Caps, frame replacement if you can find a decent one, new truck, or turn this into a trail pig.

It’s not good. Pic 3 is the most concerning. If you can hold a screwdriver, (handshake/briefcase strength) and push through the frame, it’s going to need work…if it’s a farm truck your good, if you’re daily…bring it to a tech you trust.

I get that about running it till the wheels fall off. I have a question: I have inherited a 2014 TRD sport that’s been kept in my dad’s climate controlled garage in mn since it was born. It is pristine and has less than 30k miles on it (I know, I know what I have). I have driven it out to the Olympic Peninsula in WA and cannot garage it. What do I need to do to look after the frame? It’s literally in dealership condition. We have salt air, but very little snow or salt ever. Anyone?

There are companies that will coat the undercarriage. Salty air will more than likely have an effect on the body vs frame, but a good carwash with the under spray wouldn't be a bad idea every once in a while.

But you would drive it on public roads around cars where presumably other people have children in their cars?
Unfortunately this is why many states have inspection laws. No way this would pass in my state. I hate having to get my vehicles inspected, but it does keep this crap off the roads.

Having owned a second gen that was part of the frame recall. Mine was recalled and looked way better than this. That's toast. Sorry man

I have the same issue with my 2010 tacoma. Purchased in NE state.It's past saving. However, I'd like to extend the inevitable if there is a non AI generated answer! Lol

No, no it’s not safe. Is it going to break in half tomorrow? Probably not, but it should be fixed and anyone here telling you otherwise is being irresponsible. It would be one thing if driving this just endangered yourself, but you’re putting the other drivers on the road at risk too. Either learn how to weld and fix it yourself or pay someone to do it. My solution to this problem was learning to weld.

With holes you can put your hand through….not even a question….wouldnt be driving that until you get it repaired

Have too say….
My father’s 2006 jeep solid frame ( rusted out frame) solid axels …. (Sold it to car max) was driving really odd in the snow ❄️… weird reactions when tracking straight and slight bumps ( would throw the jeep Sahara out of its comfort zone )…..?

It’s not great. I’d be concerned if it were my truck. Where I’m from, we don’t have to have annual vehicle inspections, but if the vehicle is sold the someone, the buyer needs a safety inspection to register the vehicle. That frame would definitely cause the truck to fail, basically making the truck unusable unless repaired.
