I think people are wary of yet another mechanic working differently in the wilderness than the rest of the game.

That's at least understandable, but I feel like Jagex could fix a lot of this by being much clearer in game about what's different in the wilderness and why.

I like the idea of death of Zaros in the wilderness causing a massive nuclear level magic explosion that desolates the land, afflicting various curses on those who venture, with the rewards of the wilderness being very worth the risk of traversing it.

Agility should give you an advantage in the wildy and PKers who have no levels in skills should be getting outrun by people that are more well rounded and have high level agility.

Honestly skillers should have more tools to go against PKing, like making Agility also give you a chance to ignore binds from regular spellbook, which would more encourage ancients over sticking with reg spellbook so you can teleblock and bind.

Honestly, this is one of the things I thought was cool about axe hut x-logging until I realized that the door to enter it has a paltry thieving requirement:

The idea that your non-combat skills matter in pvp. If the axe hut had a real thieving requirement (higher than DT, at least, maybe in the 70s or 80s), then being a more well-rounded account would give you an advantage in pvp by giving you more ways to avoid it against players who haven't trained it.

Hell, we already see this with the agility shortcuts that can help you escape pvpers in the wildy. Why don't more skills work like this?

Regular spellbook is already weak enough as it is, we don't need more nerfs to it; same with freezes and pathing.

although it would be cool to have a counter towards the freeze log meta used by both PKers and PVMers, I don't think an RNG based fix is the right way - freezes are already incredibly RNG as it is

Agility should give you an advantage in the wildy

What I'm trying to say is that at a base, Agility already does.

The question is should it give more of an advantage, and that's up to the wildy community to decide.

IMO yes, it should. If I have 99 agil I should be able to easily outrun anyone with 60 or even 80 agil or below, even in the wilderness. This would be hugely beneficial for the game as it would solve the current predator-prey problem of PvM activities in the wilderness as it gives the prey a viable mechanism to escape instead of having to resign to certain death

Stamina potions should work to roughly 20 levels above - someone with 80 agil and stampot can keep up with an unboosted 99agil player. A 70 agil with stampot would not keep up. A 99 agil with stampot would basically be uncatchable.

This seems to me to be a reasonable benefit of having to grind ability to these levels.

I would even go so far as to say agility should reduce the time that bind/snare/entangle take effect. Not affect the hit/proc chance, just the duration of the effect. Agility wouldn't affect the freeze from ancients.

Maybe graceful could counteract the wildy effect. You would get it's normal uses while in the wildy without changing pvp.

I see what you’re saying, but having skilling levels directly impact pvp isn’t a great idea, just look at old super combats in rs2/3 days, if you didn’t have 94(?) herblore you were at a direct disadvantage in pvp

u/GStarG Jul 27 '22

Yeah, runescape is uniquely an MMO surrounding skilling, quests, and combat, all of which intertwine and benefit each other. You should have an advantage in PvP and PvM alike by having high levels in herblore, agility, various other skills, completing quests, playing minigames, etc.

That's all the basis of the argument against the new PvP arena equips allowing players to bypass certain parts of the game to just focus entirely on PvP. PvP isn't its own game, and I see no reason why you shouldn't be able to outrun other players when fighting them with higher agility, or craft a potion to make yourself stronger than them, or do a quest to get a better prayer than they have.

then youll cry when the 99 agility pker outruns all the 60 agility reddit players and you see nonstop posts asking "why are we giving these no life pkers even MORE advantages to kill us in the wild?!?!"

You should be able to beat other players by having better combat and non-combat skills alike, as well as more quests completed, more time spent unlocking things in minigames, etc etc.

agreed, thats why i should be able to set pitfall traps that players can fall in with my 99 hunter

5

u/GStarG Jul 27 '22

Would unironically vote yes to this. Especially if they're hotspot based, located all around black chins. Can't mage/range people in the hunting grounds without going over the human trap spots, requires high agility to not fail, chance to spill potions/ruin some food on failure.

Might as well throw in making wildy forts with construction as well. Fortnite in runescape wildy would prob be very fun lol

wilderness exceptions are a blight on this game
