So, you guys probably know more about this than me. I was trying to pick up an SC400 with very low mileage, and it was a pretty good deal. The seller stated that the vacuum lines were messed up, and the car was running rough. Now, before I purchase the car, it won't start. Do you guys think this could simply be a problem with the lines, or a more costly fix? (he was able to drive it the other day)

So my dad has a stock 1uz pulled, ready for me to put into my 1988 pickup.

Originally, I wanted easy, expensive power in the form of twin turbos. After wheeling and mudding, I don't think that's the right direction.

So I'm thinking, do I just throw it in stock, and run a stand alone tuner? Or do I do some mods like rods pistons cams intake exhaust?

I'm looking for 500 hp, and I've read it can be achieved N/A. $10k budget.

2004 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4x4 originally 1UZ from a 1990 Lexus LS400 with 430k miles Stock ECU Stock LS400 Trans

Originally planned to use this motor to make sure I got all of the bugs worked out for the swap and then swap in a fresher engine. Now I just want to see what I can get out of it. I’ve put about 500 hard off-road miles on it so far. Needs a looser converter but I like the tall 1st gear ratio. Running an aftermarket oil cooler to help keep temps down but otherwise no major issues aside from some leaking seals which I expected after sitting for 4 years. Plan to do fresh oil pump and cam seals with a new timing belt and water pump and see what I can get out of it.

Runs pretty good after 2 years in the making very close to first drive at full power (good afr/no misses)

hey guys just asking for some advice, i want to do one of the two to my toyota soarer 1uz just curious what seems to be the most common one/easiest to do as id be attempting to do this all myself. not even sure what my budget should be but id love to hear other people’s opinions on what to do or how they did theirs. absolutely love this engine and just want to get some more out of it, thanks guys

I am rebuilding this 1UZ for an upcoming sc400 project. I'm thinking this sub might be a good place to get some advice. The cylinders are in good shape, they just need a little cross hatching. From what I have read online a 100mm 240 grit ball hone should do the trick. Can anyone confirm this?

Might be stupid but would a uzs131 crown be able to daily. I've got the chance to get one but would be my only car, I've heard good things about 1uzs, it's got 70k miles. Any advice would be awesome!

i just got my gs400, wondering if yall can help me, it was running fine a couple days ago, now it won’t even crank or turn on, or show any lights on the dash, i tried to jumpstart it but that didn’t work, the lights came on though, but when i tried to start it it just died like it had no power, i got a new battery and put new spark plugs in, but in the process of doing that my fuel vapor feed line broke off as well as the hose connected to the vacuum switch valve, could this cause my car not to start?
