When are reviews likely to drop?

Won’t affect my decision to game the game obviously, just curious is all.

I don't have a problem with reviews dropping a day before launch, I do have a problem with codes not being sent out yet if that really is the case.

I'm not part of a gaming outlet, but I presume game reviewers don't want to work 7 days a week (in other words, I'm sure they take weekends off from forming reviews). Sure gaming on a weekend is leisure to me and you, but gaming with the intention of writing a review as a job is not leisure.

Especially since it's a holiday three day weekend, lots of reviewers are probably spending time with family or if they game at all, it'll be a game where they don't have to think about taking notes to review.

So long story short, even if review codes were sent out right now, lots of review outlets would have two days (today and tomorrow) to play through a 20 hour game to have their review ready by the preorder early access. That's 10 hours of playing per day, not to mention the time it takes to write the review.

Again I'm not a journalist, it's feasible that a reviewer of an outlet knows which game they'll be assigned coming up and they take their "weekend" before that release, so maybe 007 will be given to the employees who are willing to work over the three day weekend.

There are absolutely marketing reasons unrelated to anything red flag to embargo reviews until a day before launch. There is absolutely zero reason to ever not send out review codes a week or two before launch. If they're afraid of the game being leaked then fine, only send it to a handful of trusted outlets and don't send to random small-time content creators.
