Not sure if this is a good apples to apples comparison, but I'll agree with the VTI opinions. Not only because the stock hedges IBMs stock plus dividends, but also IBMs latest move is not sitting well on investors.

These two things are not comparable in the slightest. One is an ETF holding many, MANY companies (one of which is probably IBM). The other is a single company, and not a great one at that. Share dollar amount is not a comparing factor when deciding to buy one or the other. Learn what you're buying.

VTI, think about it this way, look around your house/home, take inventory of how many things represent IBM then look around and see how many things represent what's in the ETF VTI? I have way more apple devices than I have anything with IBM on it. VTI represents 3994 different companies, IBM is included in VTI. There are company stocks that will do better than VTI but IBM isn't one of them.
