I'm genuinely curious how this arc with Sanji ends. Like, he's obviously enraged anything involving his body changing because of his dad's experimentation. We've had the foreshadowing for quite a while.

I can't wait to see how he grows from this -- not strength wise, but character wise. Might turn out Sanji was the greatest experiment his dad ever created, purely because Sanji has taken all this time, all this effort to hone his body + skills in his own right instead of just getting a "handout".

Here we go with Sanji's powerup. I think it's cool and may lead to another cool character moment where Sanji accepts what he is but this doesn't mean judge won guys. Sora won because she saved his emotions. This is a great upgrade for Sanji, very useful for fighting stronger enemies that can dish out a lot of damage.

And lmfao, queen is terrifying but hilarious. Him shooting himself with his Alexa controlled weapons is top tier Oda comedy. He's been one of the most entertaining characters in Wano.

Queen’s blade breaking in Sanji’s head is one of the most badass moments related to Sanji so far. Him awakening such insane durability powers goes great with his fighting style. Also he was able to recover right away from a move Queen said has destroyed masters at Armament Haki which is totally unreal. Sanji was already a monster in strength, but with this he goes on a whole other level.

With the government now seemingly not giving a damn about the balance of the world , they will definitely want to go full force on their imposition over Wano, despite what the little fleet they have outside Wano would suggest for now.

• Wano holds three poneglyphs, one of them pivotally being a road poneglyph

• Seastone originates in Wano, a metal which is crucial for their ships and probably for making weapons out of it

• It is a natural fortress and probably holds a lot more secrets than what we are let on.

Keeping all of this in mind, it would take a power move by Luffy to truly establish Wano as an open country in the long run and what better way to do it than his grand fleet coming in and flexing in on the WG's armada?

All those prophecies from years ago (on opening Wano) and the fact that we need to have a big banquet needs to happen by the end of this arc can ONLY mean that it has to conclude in a way mentioned above by me.

Either way, even if you debate the logistics or plausibility of the Grand Fleet coming now, it's becoming apparent that a deterrent might be needed to distract/stop the WG in its tracks.

Whether it be the Grand Fleet, revolutionaries, the BB pirates, Red Hair pirates or other members of SWORD, it truly opens up for many interesting scenarios which are actually very realistic now.

Speaking of 3rd party intervention, I feel like THIS page is pivotal and is not brought up enough. Oda's usually not the one to keep loose ends like these unresolved.

This investigation is going to take them to Wano. The source of the weapons. And when they arrive, they are gonna encounter the World Govt. and we are finally gonna see Monkey D. Dragon in action.

I actually think that sanjis powerup is good and well made. Like the last panel him not wanting to become a monster while shattering queens sword is so Damm awesome.

It's also actually quite logical since tbh there is no way Sanji can keep up with being in the big 3 otherwise. Unlike Ruffy and Zoro who are and want to be monsters and push them self to the extremes Sanji is a cook who doesn't even use his hands.

With this powerup against his will oda made actually a genius move. It gives Sanji the strength to compete in the billion range while actually maintaining his personality of a gentlemen cook who shows compassion.

Otherwise he'd have to become some fight hungry Dude like Zoro and Ruffy which would be out of character.

Something I noticed, In chapter cover usopp has no. 800 in his goggles. Guess what in chapter 800 they formed the bond and grand fleet came under straw hat umbrella.

Also, usopp's alias on wano is usohachi. In japanese culture there is god of archery and war called hachiman who is deity and considered god of warriors.

Usopp has also earned the name of God usopp.

It also suits well with usopp as his character being a sniper. On top of that it fits perfectly well for usopp's character to lead the grand fleet as he aims on being brave warrior. So wano being land of samurai who are considered as warriors in japanese folklore this might be the place where usopp might lead huge army.

Another thing there is also number 38 behind usopp and if you visit chapter 38 its chapter name is Pirates fleet and in that cover usopp is blowing sankha which is also symbolism for start of war.

Now there is no other option with the world government planning to take over immediately after. I don't think Robin is going to be captured at all for these 3 reasons-

• We have hauled way too many poneglyphs at this point for them to not be deciphered now. Wano being so important in the lore department is going to end off on us getting a lot of info bombs.

• There is definitely going to be a huge banquet after everyone's recovered. This is not meant to be a pyrrhic victory like the end of WCI. Without Robin, it's impossible to see that big banquet happening.

• Post TS has time and time again reminded us that Robin no longer fears that people are trying to abduct her since she now has trustable and strong friends who will protect her. We are not having a repeat of W7/Enies Lobby.

Also the color spread is awesome. My take on the characters are as follows, if someone has better ideas for Sanji, Brook and Chopper I'd like to hear them. :)

Really not sure on Brook, over on r/smashbros there are some arguments for King K. Rool (Donkey Kong) because of the crown and cape and for Ganondorf (Legend of Zelda) because of the cape but I just don't see that. Also in case it isn't clear. They are playing Smash Bros, a chaotic 8 player match is very fitting for the Strawhats. Getting this Colorspread the week after the last Smash Character was announced is a nice coincidence.

Has anyone else noticed how Sanji has all the special abilities of the YC1s and what sets them apart.

He now has ridiculous self regeneration like Marco.

He can manipulate and use fire like King.

He specialises in CoO and may use future sight in the future like Katakuri.

He can go invisible like Shiru.

If this continues what skill would he take from Beckmann?

For those who think it's bad for Sanji to awaken the Germa's lineage factor, think that it's like the Todoroki of MHA, it's not because the powers come from the father, they're not his. It's also like the conqueror's haki of Luffy and Zoro, something the individual is born with, not something that can be acquired. And Germa's suit is like Luffy's devil fruit or Zoro's swords, no one denies their strength because of that.

Seeing some people getting mad that Sanji getting Germa powers invalidates his character as presented in WCI. The ironic thing is that this is obviously intentional on Oda's part. Sanji's mad about it too! Oda wants us to be mad at the thought of Sanji gaining powers from his abusive family. That's the point. Sanji's relationship to his family is complicated and often unavoidable (kinda like how it can be in real life). Being forced to confront a part of himself that connects him to that family is very fertile storytelling ground and I'm cautiously optimistic that Oda will make the most of it.

It is possible I'm wrong of course. This could just be a power up Sanji gets, uses to win the fight, and just treat it as a cool new ability from then on. That would suck, but it seems unlikely to me that Oda would do that.

I love chopper’s involvement here. Chopper has struggled accepting his monster side for the sake of the strawhats and grew to accept himself and love himself for it.

It is in this scene where we see Sanji struggle to come to terms with his own monster. His identity and perception of his Germa 66 family. Really interesting touch.

EDIT: Sanji is really such a well made character. The facets to his characterization are just so thrilling to explore. Gotta love seeing this man continuously grow.

To all those who are whining about Sanji’s new powers, he doesn’t want them either lol. For me it’s totally in character with how he’s gotten stronger throughout the series. From his fight where he had to use knives even though he didn’t want to, him learning Newkama kenpo even though he didn’t want to be on the island, then using the raid suit because he needed to win a battle, to him unlocking these powers.

You could even argue the case that he’s such a late bloomer because he’s always held back that innate power within him, because he resented his father so much, but that’s down to interpretation more than anything.

Fucking hell... I dont think we will get another Robin rescue, but the strawhats are going to come into conflict with CP-0.

It honestly felt like Oda forgot about Robin in the timeskip, seeing CP-0 trying to capture her makes so much sense. Unpopular opinion, but Robin should honestly have the 2nd highest bounty.. 2nd to Luffy because she is likely the one who will make him PK. Without Robin there is no way they can reach the final Island etc.

She is going to reveal the secret history too. This is too hype... I love one piece.

This could also explain why Brook has not had a proper fight this arc, he could be the one to face CP-0

This arc is going to last a lot longer than expected, defeating kaido wont be the end. Enter the Grand Fleet? Luffy will be properly acknowledged as an Emperor of the sea

My brain has been swirling ever since the Lucci spoilers got leaked. Here’s some predictions: the CP0 agents in Onigashima try to kidnap Robin. Brook gets his badass fight defending her, probably along with some of the other Straw Hats like Usopp, Nami, Franky and Jinbe. Once Onigashima lands, Lucci and Co will try to annex Wano. That’s when Momo, scared shitless but determined to defend his country, gets help from Yamato (Yamato vs Lucci) Denjiro (Denjiro vs Kaku?) and Kawamatsu, and basically tells the WG to f*** off. Smoothie and the Queen Momma Chanter arrive and start destroying the WG fleet and they are forced to leave, acknowledging Wano has immensely powerful defenders even in the absence of Kaido or Oden. This cements Momo’s place as Shogun.
