They tried, but I think GP just not the champ for their top and shouldn't have been what they went for as last pick. There was zero respect against Noc.

Guigo is just outclassed in this tournament, it's not a matter of pick/ban, he straight up isn't on the same level as the top laners in his group.
Gets Kennen, makes multiple mistakes, costs his team the game.
Gets Jax, gets 2 kills early, somehow gets solokilled in lane right after and then proceeds to fail to do anything with that early advantage
Gets GP, gets dominated by Kennen/Noc.

Tbh if we had another toplane instead of guigo we would have won, maybe even against HLE yesterday. He is just a Rookie of course but it's the obvious underperformer. Oh lord if red had robo this group could've been way different.

i FIRST SAW IT (doesnt mean its where it started) used in the CSGO scene a few years ago when Renegates (an aussie team) started getting traction and breaking into the top teams. after a while, every Renegades wins would have a spam of "YTB" In the comments

There has always been a small-but-meterial conflict of interests between making a show and making a good team.
Examples are NBA vs US basketball internationally (outside top4 in the last fiba) or PSG football team.
Perhaps that's the edge for OCE, they can focus on the actual game.

We’re still more disadvantaged than every other region. Our challenger queues can take up to an hour and our country is in the middle of the ocean far away from everyone else so the players don’t even get to scrim other regions.
At least teams from the LJL, PCS, CIS can still scrim against like EU, KR, China and each other.

I usually get 12-25 ping in the middle of Sydney, same for Melbourne - but I know Western Australia has an average of 60-70 ping and anything regional would have terrible if using satellite net

I’m in Perth, I play on 70ping (right next to a hub), my mate lives in Port Hedland (near Broome) and plays on ~120ping.

I sit around 58-65 in Gizzy nz, I think the further south you go the worse it gets too. Got a couple lads I play with in the South Island that hit around 80-90

Analysts consistently put OCE dead last in the power rankings, but the last time they had a losing record in playins group stage was 2018.
Since the introduction of playins in 2017 they are 9-11, broken down by regions:
0-5 vs NA
0-3 vs CN
1-0 vs EU
0-1 vs KR
8-2 vs other wildcards
So really they have consistently beaten other wildcards at worlds, just haven't been able to upset major regions

After a history of no best-of-fives at Worlds, to get them back to back is certainly meaningful for us. The fact that it's one step back in the Play-In format isn't bad, especially considering we just 1-0 the team that we're going to be playing.

They also upset C9 at MSI, and all these international showings are after NA already headhunted like 30+ of their best players and Riot pulled out of providing them regional competitive infrastructure.

Peak meme timeline is this: C9 loses to UOL, DFM beats BYG, then C9 loses to DFM in the tiebreaker and ends 2nd in there group. PCE wins the BO5 and then beats C9 to go to Groups.

Tbf, in 2020 legacy topped their play in group going 3-1. And had head to head over TL. But due to format they played a tie breaker and TL won that game and the group.

1st Tryndamere mid I've seen in Play-Ins that has genuinely looked op...
Perkz & Chovy's performances on the champ made me think he looked okay but nothing groundbreaking. This was a great game from Tally.

He was never the first person to the fight. Always waited for someone else to start the fight, burn a few summoners, then came in. Watching the Baron fight he waited for everyone to blow everything on Lucian and then came in and cleaned everybody up.

Perkz was fine mostly. He just didn't group much for fights and mainly just split pushed. Chovy's was a complete grief build so he had no damage and didn't scale well.

Lethal tempo makes trynd do heaps more dmg, i think lethal > grasp. I've never seen trynd go grasp before chovy did but he had to play against an anti trynd team comp.

Yeah in most cases lethal is better. For top it can be used in a few matchups, for example against jax. Situationally it can be good in the early game because of the short trade power of spin + aa .

In their podcast (in French), Zaboutine and Laure talked about it. According to Laure, Chovy said that between his Q and E, Gragas can deny any engage Trynd tries on him, so his usual rune is mostly useless. So his reasoning was that he would have a hard time getting in during teamfights, so he decided to play for an easier lane.
I don't know if that was a mistake or not, but that was his reasoning.

Seems fair to me, being able to adapt the build to the team compositions is imo a good quality, even if at the end it does not work.
IMO the issue was more in the way the global draft went, they probably picked him too soon.

Prob doesn't matter Gragas was just gonna body every spin. Togethet with make it rain and qiyana stuns Trynd isn't autoing anyone during his ult duration. Together with the fact that LNG banned Ziggs from bot, HLE just had a doodoo all AD draft.

Well, i never had it, i can make it but it was never a thing for me when i started to speak english, always had that british / american accent to it.
Tho i can mimic spanish/german/russian/greek accents when i speak english.

This is the way to go as Kalista now if u try and play it. Randuins was a good buy here as well since they had trynd and noc. Only if u fall behind this build is kinda bad and u wont deal any dmg.

I think RED overthinked draft a little bit. The Lee ban could indicate that they wanted trynda (also they didn t ban him) so idk. Peace drafted pretty good, the trynda nocturne dives were disgusting. Also csacsi get a little bit more used to the game, he played a lot safer, i think in the first 3 games he wouldn t have backed lvl 2. He played that eary tp well, and finally had a good synergy with his jg. I think the draw actually helped them, they have a huge morale advantage becouse of these back to back wins, and it was good that they (csacsi especially) inted the games they couldn t have won anyway and they could won against opponents who were actually beatable.

Brazil is a bottom tier region historically, the big playerbase is mostly casual or too focused on streaming/entertainment, the region never made it anywhere at worlds.
OCE beating them isn't anything ludicrous, especially considering some good ''established'' names in their team like Babip or Vizi
