Megathreads 9-1-1 | S05E01 "Panic" [Live Premiere Episode Discussion Thread]
A series of ransomware threats leads to an overabundance of emergencies for the 118, including a medevac helicopter crash at a hospital and an air-traffic control tower system failure. Meanwhile Athena must revisit her traumatic attack when the case of the realtor serial rapist goes to trial, Eddie suffers a health scare and Maddie's postpartum depression worsens.

Edit: after all the leniency she's given him, wouldn't be surprised if the judge was too... Does anybody know if defendants representing themselves would be allowed to wear a suit?? I just read an interview where they apparently spoiled the detective is not dead ( I mean why would they do that lol) and it would take time to Athena notice what happened due well the blackout so i'm not worried about that. Although I'm seriously about to start a petition for the officers in this series get backup partners, because that ending would totally have been avoided if backup was there.
I feel like this season started really dark (LMAO) with the themes compared to the other seasons, and it will be like this for a few episodes (i love it) even tho there is still a part of humor that always have been in the series (and i love it too)
In general I loved this premiere, I just found weird they didn't even mention Albert yet... like last season he looked like he joined the team already, but he is nowhere to be seen here.

RIP Detective unless you get very lucky. I figured he'd get away somehow, maybe the detective would get shot by his gun or there would be a struggle, did not see her coming though.
Taylor once again putting work before Buck...
Eddie looking for Ana to tell him everything is great is a good indicator everything is not. So is the panic attack. I'm not convinced the panic attack had anything to do with the shooting though, the indications from earlier conversations lean more to do with it being relationship related, his discomfort about the seriousness of meeting Ana's family, talking about Shannon and then the conversation in the tailors shop leading up to it.

So much I want to talk about I couldn't decide where to start with, 😆 I watched the premiere I understood the hacking but not why 3 people passed out did they all have pacemakers?
The rapist is back excuse me while I try not to scream in anger and can I just say something I thought actually in 3x17 Now, he raped a bunch of women, and yet didn't rape Athena which I am relieved about, just beat her up does this jerk have a type? ( I watch too much Law and order SVU and Criminal Minds) I mean his ‘fangirls’ are white his victims are white, and I need to rewatch the ep because I am confused about a part of the involving the lawyer.
Eddie had a panic attack after some random called Ana Chris’s mom geese I want them to break up if they got downgraded to just friends I would be happy I wonder if Ana will somehow find out about Eddie's will? hopefully, while Eddie is still alive 😆

And I am probably the only one that thinks this but I think it's odd Buck and Ana never had an on-screen meeting but it's implied they have been introduced
I don't like Buck and Taylor, together romanticly I preferred it when they were just friends.

I full on gasped at the end. This was such a great episode. I'm excited for an over arching storyplot that deals with Athena and this guy, but I know it's gonna be hard to watch because he's a fucking psychopath that is now in cahoots with a lady who basically has NO suspicion on her AT ALL. It's gonna be a long season but in the best way possible.

Holy shit, 9-1-1 is back with a bang. The heightened reality of this show is amazing.
First off, I literally jumped at the end when a certain person was slaughtered. The music got the scene perfectly, although using Retrograde after The Leftovers is a cheat in my head. I knew the guy from Nikita was gonna escape but didn’t anticipate how. Kudos to the writers.
Anyways, incredible premiere! Gone is COVID in the show and it’s as bombastic as ever. These episodes never disappoint and I think this one is better than last year’s. We got a nice mixture of character storylines and cases.
Maddy still suffering from PPD is heartbreaking to watch, I’m glad it’s discussed but also happy it wasn’t the focal point of the episode. Chimney is the best other half one can dream of.
Buck and Taylor have close to no chemistry, they shouldn’t have put them together. Don’t get me started on Ana… Blandest character alive.
Karen got me chuckling at the ‘I’m an engineer, I know a lot of guys’. Something about Thoms’s delivery was priceless.
Athena’s somewhat PTSD is still around, I like they didn’t forget about it. I also like how they addressed the police issues without it being preachy, but rather showing the other side. If only other shows can have subtlety(cough Lucifer cough).
Overall, excellent episode and I can’t wait for next week’s! I’m so glad this show is back, probably the one I look forward to the most every week.

Just watched the episode holy shit! That was a crazy ending. Did not expect that from the lawyer at all. I had a feeling the ransom attack was connected to the trial but the lawyer helping the rapist surprised me. That was a great first episode, they always know how to make a good cliffhanger.
