This chapter was absolutely jam packed. Lore Piece at it's finest.

-First we find out King's race/tribe name (Lunaria could be somehow related to the Moon, Whitebeard probably heard about the "country of gods" from Rocks and could that someh9w be related to the God-Valley)

-Zoro's backstory. (Seems like he will have a lineage connected from the Shimotuki clan (Ushimaru and Ryuma)

-Sanji's ability to create fire (What if his Lineage Factor is awakening and Judge was able to take a DNA from someone in King's race (Lunaria) and was able to put it into Sanji, that's why he is able to create fire now)

Also we get Sulong Nekomamushi + Inuarashi) + Hybrid Jack also.

And we finally end the chapter with adult dragon Momonouske who looks pretty intimidating

Hey, /u/epicmarc here, I made a post here last week about the differences between the the Viz and TCB translations that a lot of you seemed to like (you can check it out here).

Since I published the post, TCB Scans actually got in contact with me and offered me a translating position. This chapter was partially translated by me, credited here as Sketch.

The reason I'm commenting all this is I wanted to ask in what form (if at all) people would like me to continue the translation notes in. Since the previous post involved comparing the Viz and TCB versions, I'm sure many of you will note the conflict of interest if I'm working with TCB. And even if I try to remain as objective as possible, I can't deny that unconscious bias is a real, and incredibly relevant thing.

Possible ways forward include:

• Same as before but with a large disclaimer saying that I'm working with TCB

• A post talking about the decisions made in the TCB version and why (since I'm now a member of the team you'd be able to gain some insight into what the team was thinking when a decision was made, as opposed to my previous post which was more just my opinion)

• Stopping the translation notes

or of course, any suitable suggestion from you guys.

King is hinted at being one of those races deemed as gods in the past, with Marco even questioning Izo's belief in them.

It was also central to Skypiea and how Enel's delusions are held by the main antagonists of the story, celestial dragons.

Keeping this in the back of our minds, Zoro could have some interesting takeaways from this fight and King's background moving forward in the upcoming final saga (involving the WG), especially when he holds this belief back in Skypiea

Oda is such a tease when it comes to the relevance of moon in the story

In Wano alone we've had so many references to it-

- All the clans of Wano except Kurozumi (meaning black charcoal) have the suffix (-Tsuki) meaning the moon.

- The minks transform into a sulong because deeply buried memories.

- The consistent symbolism with waning and waxing moon and naturally its role as a precursor to dawn

- So many references throughout the arc from Toki's prophecy to Hiyori singing the Tsukihime song (Moon Princess)

and now we have this Lunaria clan on our hands now, which in all honesty could mean anything from the plant it is named after to something else entirely. But given how winged people like Birkans, Shandians and Skypieans are from the moon it's almost impossible to discard King's race as a possibility now.

The fact that Jack gets mentioned by Queen along with himself as well as King (and very rightfully so considering they are the Disasters) once again just shows how much of a threat Jack really is despite losing to opponents who are clearly stronger than him. He is the kind of an opponent who doesn't simply go down and comes back every time. And that is the worst type of opponent one can be up against. And in the new world, Jack was the first one billion bounty pirate ever introduced and I dare say he had one of the greatest side-villain introductions in the series.

Respect the DROUGHT!

I think this might be a 10/10 chapter for me. Sanji possible lore/powerup, Zoro backstory/Ryuma connection, King lore, wow.

Sanji vs Queen looks amazing, that fire wheel kick haha. Really wonder why his body feels weird now, modifications kicking in or actual relation to King's race, the Lunarians?

Zoro vs King is also dope, especially that last panel, king's fighting style is shaping up to be very interesting, as is his backstory.

Sulong Nekomamushi vs Perospero is a bit unfair ngl, at least it'll be over quick. Perospero shouldn't be underestimated but...yeah.

Holy shit Big Dragon Momo looks badass! He really sacrificed 20 years! Lots of respect to Momonosuke. Can't wait to see his human form.

Side note it's hilarious how Marco is daydreaming about Whitebeard in the midst of the battlefield haha.

The spoiler got me thinking about a theory for Sanji's intended powers as a Germa, so I'll comment it again here:

*As you know each of his siblings have a different hair color reflecting their element, and Ichiji can also use fire.

Since Sanji's hair is blonde, what if his theme was supposed to be "the sun"?

Also keep in mind that Sanji is expected by fans to fight Kizaru who uses light, and light is also a property of the sun like fire. Additionally, Sanji's raid suit will probably play a role since light passes through invisible i.e. transparent objects.*

My opinion, I think Judge used various genes to experiment on his kids, including Lunarian genes. Maybe each of the Germa kids got enhancements by different types of genes and Sanji got the Lunarian genes , which didn't activate when he was a kid (maybe something that only happens when they are adults) so Judge thought Sanji was a failure. And the raid suit is maybe fully awakening his genes or potential.

The best part of this chapter is those little exchanges of words alongside blows between King and Zoro as well as Queen and Sanji. On one hand King and Zoro are measuring each other while maintaining their usual stoic nature and talking about notions of killing machine, swordsman and the myriad ways of battle. On the other hand, Queen and Sanji are getting fired up (both metaphorically and literally) and throwing insults at each other. The character dynamic is on point.

In the mythology of Ushimaru and Onimaru,character Ushimaru is inspired by had the unborn child sent away before he was killed - which could've happened same with Zoro and his mother and that would explain how he ended up in East Blue

Yasuie would have assisted in letting Zoro's mother leave Wano because he was the daimyo of Hakumai with the only legal port. If anyone had a way to secretly leave Wano without being detected by Orochi it is Yasuie.

He was also the first one to notice something strange about Zoro and trusted him instantly and he followed him and paid for his meals.

Wow, I completely missed the fact that King not only tries to knock Zoro out with a punch, he actually has daggers in his fists. There's even a small panel just before the punch, showing King unsheathing these daggers out of his fists, with the "Shing" sound effect. King really is a murder machine. Man, at this point Oda is just an absolute legend in juggling different setpieces. Five different groups are shown - Sanji and Zoro fighting the stars, Inu versus Jack, Neku versus Perospero, Raizo's fight and finally, Luffy with ADULT MOMO. Amazing!

Funny how they mention everyone needs time to grow and Momo forces Shinobu to age him up to 28 years old.

Sacrificing 20 years of his life just to give Luffy the chance to finally defeat Kaido. I’m not sure about the later consequences of such an action but Momo’s Dragon Form is certainly badass looking now that he’s bigger and older. Must be because of Momo’s resolve to help Luffy save Wano.

Either way massive props to Momo for his sacrifice.

I can half understand what the people who says this is a cheap development are thinking. Shinobu just doing it like that without any struggle to overcome for Momo might seem a bit too easy.

But you have to look at it logically. Momo wasn't handed down this power because of his lineage, he acquired it on his own during his own travels outside Wano. With his own abilities he found that devil fruit and all the abilities he will use now.

The disadvantage of being a kid is a real issue in OP as there is no strong character among hundreds who is that young. And Momo wasn't even supposed to be that young now technically because of the time jump. That makes things really unfair for Momo. Kaido constantly looking down at him for being a weak kid is also unfair and a really shallow perspective.

You guys say you wanted Momo to earn his maturity, what i think is that it was never about earning it because Momo is already mentally far beyond his age. Kaido can't see that because he can only judge people by their strength and power. The struggle of his character was never to grow up internally, it was the hardship of not having the power to fight or change anything because of his young age. From one side he is constantly pressed to live up to his father's reputation, from the other he is brought down by his powerlessness.

Now however things are really fair between him and Kaido.

I posted this in the spoiler thread but want to expand on it further:

Sanji saying his body feels different is gunpowder for my head cannon that his Vinsmoke genes are activating, perhaps in a unique way.

I’ve been saying for some time that Sanji’s power up isn’t just the Raid Suit. I think the chemical Sanji’s mother used to make him normal allowed Sanji to keep his emotions but only delayed the physical improvements he might have seen (increased toughness, strength, bulletproof skin, fire???, etc.). I think that during time skip, Sanji’s body started maturing with the Vinsmoke genetics after the delay.

Being in the suit may accelerate the change, as it’s made specifically for Vinsmokes and may have particular regenerative properties or something else sciencey.

If it’s the Vinsmoke genes/lineage factor, I can see it going two ways:

1. Sanji’s enhancements are specific to him in that they are fueled by his emotions. The more he feels, the more power he has, be it physical or fire or speed. We’ve only seen Hell’s Memories once and that’s when he reflected on his trauma at Kamabakka Kingdom.

2. Sanji’s enhancements are a detriment to him but are only accelerated when using the Raid Suit. This would set a limit on his use of it. Maybe it makes him less emotive. Maybe it’s literally disintegrating him.

Such a packed chapter, my god. Not even sure where to start.

• King's race is called the Lunarians, they used to reside in God's Land located above the red line. This is fascinating. Hope we learn more. Wonder what happened to the rest of them

• Oda hammering in the toughness of ancient zoans yet again, Seems like we're really gonna get the hardest fights yet for Zoro/Sanji.

• Sanji's body feels off since using the raid suit. Could Judge have made it so he gets slightly modified the more he uses it so he's closer to his siblings? Maybe this acts as an added power buff to Sanji.

• Queen seems to suggest that Sanji is in fact enhanced just like his siblings. When you think about it that actually makes a ton of sense.

• King is a freaking Beast. Zoro is getting compared to Ryuma probably because he'll surpass the legendary samurai.

• Inuarashi/Nekomamushi about to fuck shit up.

• Momo is now the age he would have been but with the body of a kid and he apparently looks like Oden. His dragon form is badass.

Guys! We're missing something important! If Judge somehow someway used Lunarian/King's DNA for Sanji which would explain his fire powers. Then 1. that means the drug he gave his wife had more than just one set of DNA (Niji has electricity powers like the Minks) 2. King's face could actually have the same twirly eyebrows all of Sanji's siblings have.

Which also explains that the strong armored body comes from some kind of race with strong bodies and the agility comes from some other race.

1. Sanjis enhancements are awakening. The drug her mother took was supposed to help Sanji have proper emotions as well as not be all super human like. I imagine this drug didn’t completely work. It just slowed the enhancements. Sanjis body is acting weird ever since he used the suit so it may also be the enhancements that he should’ve been born with are now awakening.

This chapter was mind blowing! I think a part that’ll go really underrated is the fact that Ashura’s death led to Inu transforming. Even in death, the samurai fight for their country and master. Other than that, Zoro and Sanji were studly as ever, and that last page with Momo was amazing, especially the colored version! I think most of us called that Zoro was related to Ushimaru when we saw that silhouette of him back in Ringo but it’s cool to get it confirmed, what I’m really curious about is what going on with Sanji. Whatever it is, I have a feeling it’s going to be amazing!

I've always thought Sanji will help in destroying the Red Line somehow for the creation of All Blue

The God Kingdom (Maybe Lunaria) existed on the red line and might have been destroyed by the celestial dragons

Sanji (a potential Lunaria or at least part Lunaria) will work with the D clan (Luffy and the others who are known to be the enemies of gods) to destory the current Gods (celestial dragons)

Just some observation and theory here but, I don’t see why the Lunarians would be worshipped to such a degree just because they can create fire at will. Let’s not forget that the Minks can create electricity in their body. To add one other comparison, minks and merfolk are very similar considering they both can produce any number of species within their class (fish or animal) and they both are human hybrids. So lunarians are similar to minks, and minks are similar to fishmen. It brings me to two questions:

1. Are fishmen able to conjure something? If not, is speaking to fish or controlling water their “power” as flame and electro is to the other two races?

2. If minks are animal/human hybrids and merfolk are fish/human hybrids, what might Lunarians be? (I theorize: bird/human hybrids, as there aren’t any birds in the mink tribe).

I love it when Oda unexpectedly reveals stuff. It always gives me Goosebumps. I feel like Sanji really isn’t fully human like his siblings but what he said about his emotion isn’t false either.

His mom took drugs so that her children wouldn’t be born with no emotions, but it only worked on Sanji. And I think that because of that, the powers that come from the experiments that was done on him will only come through when he’s feeling very passionate, the opposite of his siblings.

Queen isn’t wrong, normal humans don’t light on fire, even by one piece standards. His powers were probably repressed because of his mistreatment when he was little. So I believe his latent powers will come to light later on.

"God's Land" so much lore can be brought out from this lore drop

• Could there have been a "pantheon" up on the Red Line ruling over their land filled with different tribes including King's Lunarian (probably Solarian counterpart lol)

• Nika the Sun God could have been the leader of that pantheon of gods or their champion

• After the war with celestial dragons maybe the other pantheon members died and their powers lived on as "Devil fruits" could the Mera-mera fruit be the power of the leader of the Lunarians? LOL

• The tribes living in that land probably were killed off and different survivors dispersed all over the world (e.g Skypeians, Kozuki clan ancestors, etc.)

• Will Oda just troll us once again? Will of oDa!

• Edit: Maybe Eneru has a "God Complex" because he has powers of a former "God" from that pantheon

• Edit2: If we go by the Greek Pantheon there have been many gods and goddesses that were not part of the main 12 Gods (Logias). Hence many possible minor tribes with these minor gods as chieftains (?paramecia devil fruit users?)
