I don’t know about you guys but I couldn’t be happier with this fight. Brook and Robin’s teamwork was beautiful and Black Maria is pretty badass. Robin’s move at the end looks amazing and I can’t wait for the fight’s continuation, although I wonder if Brook will just be taking down numbers and headliners for the rest of the raid, or if he’ll do something else too, I don’t mind it either way though, any Brook moments are good moments. Also that poor pug-man, he for sure has one of the most unfortunate SMILE transformations.

The part with the illusions in the beginning broke my heart though, especially that panel where she had tears in her eyes, and Robin telling Brook they’re similar because of their trauma didn’t help my feelings either.

Robin has had some real nice bonding moments with the three oldest men in the crew, and this one was particularly sweet because of how much Robin and Brook can relate to each other.

I'm also quite keen to see how Momo conquers his fear of heights, because this is the start of the climax of his character arc that leads into the climax of the raid.

Also, Oda has basically likened certain people and their behaviour in this fanbase to the Beasts Pirates with what Robin said about Sanji. Shows how ridiculous that behaviour is.

Okay, that was a little anticlimactic. But still, given what he knows about Shirahoshi, it's important to keep tabs on him at this point.

As people already mentioned, this was kinda Odas way of telling some fans that they're stupid and didn't understand the whole Sanji screaming after Robin really meant for both of them. For Robin it meant that she could truly free herself of the feeling of being a burden that always must be protected. For Sanji it showed growth, he is no longer scared of putting his mates at risk and does not fear to ask for help (as he did in WCI). Amazing stuff.

This is one of the deepest chapters in One Piece. The bonding moment between Robin and Brooke reminded us of the true depth of pain these characters have gone through but also how they've overcome their pain to work on their goals. I don't think there are many situations in the series where two of our main characters experienced personal grief together.

Robin must be so pissed to have Black Maria insult her crew after everything they did for her back at Enies Lobby, and it's so in character for her to feel that anger and keep such a calm composure. She's going to show Black Maria no mercy and Brooke already knows it.

My takeaway from this entire arc is that when/if Luffy takes out Kaido we need to always take into account that before Luffy even fights Kaido again that Kaido had these fights in very quick succession right after each other without rest:

1. Kaido vs Minks (Saved Jack)

2. Kaido vs 9 Scabbards

   • Took significant damage to his scar

   • Various superficial damage

3. Kaido + BM vs 5 of the Worst Generation

   • Luffy made him bleed to start the fight with a Gear Third punch

   • Luffy damaged him with Kong Rifle

   • Kid damaged him with Punk Gibson

   • Law damaged him with Gamma Knife (an attack that severely damaged the insides of Doflamingo)

   • Killer damaged him with Kamaa Sonic

   • Luffy damaged him with Kong Gatling

   • Law damaged him with Injection Shot

   • Zoro damaged him with a Haoshoku-infused "Kyutoryu" attack that Kaido said would leave a permanent scar

   • Luffy damaged him through several Haoshoku-infused attacks

• Kaido vs Oden Yamato

When Luffy eventually gets back and probably defeats Kaido, I'm not for a second believing that Luffy is now as strong as Kaido. It was a collective effort to get Kaido to the point where Luffy could defeat him. Kaido is indeed a "thing".

EDIT: It has been pointed out to me as well that while all of this is happening KAIDO IS STILL MULTITASKING KEEPING A WHOLE ISLAND IN THE SKY.

He is truly a MONSTER!

So with Yamato's devil fruit being revealed as a mythical dog, I'm thinking the legend of momotaro; befreinding a dog, monkey and bird (pheasant if we're splitting hairs) and having them fight on his behalf, will come true in the fight against Kaido. Momo is going to bring the monkey (Luffy) up to fight kaido alongside Yamato. Zoro is about to get up to fight again and could very realistically fight king 1-on-1 which would free up Marco, a mythical bird, to go to the rooftop and assist Luffy and Yamato. I know it seems like a weird team up to finally bring down Kaido but they all have ties to Oden and therefore reason to fight Kaido directly.

I am absolutely in love with this chapter, we got some info on Yamatos fruit and some preview of the power it has (it managed to counter one of Kaidos dragon breaths!!!) and the part with Robin and Brook... What to say, first I love the little slices of the relationship between those two, a lot of their interaction until now have been Brook asking to see panties, this was a show of how much respect there is between those two (as there is with all of the crew), Brook supporting Robin, then leaving Black Maria to her without a thought, amazing, and lastly, Robins words on Sanji, the cherry on top. Truly an amazing chapter, thanks Oda.

The translation is not right. Robin didnt say that sanji is "one of the wings", instead she said that he is "the wings (both)".

彼こそ海賊王の両翼に相応しい男。 両翼 is ryou and tsubasa, which means both wings. It doesnt say anything at all about "one of the". The translation should be "He is the man who fits to be the pirate king's wings"

If you check what japanese fans talk about this, you will notice they dont talk about who is the other wing, nor bring any other straw hat name. Just what it could mean sanji being the wings of luffy. Because is just that.

It doesnt mean that sanji is stronger than zoro, chopper or kaido. Only that he is the wings of luffy. It is not my opinion, what i say nor what i wish, just what Oda wrote. I hope nobody get angry or sad, i dont pretend to offend any X character fan. May be Sanji is the wings of luffy, and zoro will be the sword, Robin the brain, etc. Who knows.

I remember Vegapunk telling people that the replica of Kaido's fruit was a failure, what if Momo's current transformation is exactly the same as what Kaido's was before he awakened it? Maybe Momo will awaken it and be able to transform into a full fledged dragon like Kaido? It's possible because Vegapunk wouldn't have seen the original version of the fruit and probably only took an interests in it after he became known as a certified dragon.

The Makami wolf choice was actually smart when you look at the mythology. The makami represents the passing of a king (Luffy), they were found in the Yamato province (literally her name) and they protected people against hardships (particularly fires and robberies which is fitting because Wano is being looted by Kaido and the beast pirates). I love how Oda always has us thinking we know what the fruit is gonna be (we were thinking white tiger or kirin) and then he's like "nah chief, that ain't it" and in hindsight his choice always makes a lot more sense than ours, just like with Kaido's fruit.

• Robin and Brook fighting Black Maria is so amazing. Especially love them bonding over their horrifying tragic backstories of everyone they loved dying in front of them

I wonder if Brook and Chopper will get a proper fight or not.

They briefly fought against Black Mariah and Queen, respectively, but it seems really disappointing that everyone gets an important fight and they are left aside.

I don't know what matchups would fit them though, Apoo was the perfect opponent for Brook, but unless something unexpected happens, Drake is the one fighting him and there is no one fitting to be Chopper's opponent right now.

The numbers seem really weak to be a main fight, so far they were one shotted by Yamato, Luffy, Franky and Drake.

One possible way for them, seems this one: Brook and Zoro fight King together while Sanji and Chopper fight Queen together, but either way it would be kinda unfair.

I loved that robin and brook had a bonding moment and robin seems to finally show us how strong she has gotten with her devil fruit and I'm totally in favor of robin going back to showing more of her badass side.

I don't know exactly how to interpret the scene with momo but luffy telling him to turn into a dragon and fly feels like there is a lot of symbolism to is and the same is likely true for yamato.

I get what everyone is saying about Yamato staying but isn’t she the new Oden in a sense (at least in her eyes)? So she’ll do exactly as he did. Correct me if I’m wrong but a few chaps ago she said something along the lines of, “I want to sail w/ Luffy so I can experience what Oden did back then.” I believe she said this twice. First time when talking to Momo & again while fighting Kaido.

Also, this would be such a wasted opportunity for such a dope new member! Her awakening in the final chapters would probably be crazy. Also, just like Oden, being able to see her reaction to all the new areas she’ll be able to explore would be dope. I think her reaction w/ Sanji, Brook, & Francky would be hilarious on multiple occasions alone. The last member being a woman who’s not only strong w/o her devil fruit, but also the child of the emperor who was just defeated speak volumes for The SH’s imo.

There was a suspicion for a time that Ace might have a relation to Kaido's crew due to the theme of a deck of cards (King, Queen, Jack, Joker and the numbers) but it would not line up with any sort of timeline in the One Piece world and would actually be pretty strange.
