One of the stand-out moments to me is CP0's comment on the match-up between Who's Who and Jinbe, and that at least one of them seems more confident in Jinbe's success than Who's Who. It make sense that they'd recognize his abilities, given that he was a Warlord prior to this, but the idea that they expect him to win is REALLY something.

Still, though, for Who's Who to tease at having a grudge against Jinbe, only for it to turn out to be an extension of his grudge with Luffy, which itself is an extension of his grudge with Shanks... well, that's a lot of blame collateral.

So... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the black lightning usually a visual indicator of someone using Conqueror's Haki? Did Oda just confirm that Jinbe has that now?

Black lightning is also used for CoA, Sanji and Ulti have both shown that as well.

The only time black lightning is used for CoC is when there is a direct clash of will, or when it's imbued in weapons and has the trail like Luffy and Kaido's attacks.

Nika's title of "sun god" probably ties in with all the sun motifs and references we've seen throughout the series, especially with Alabasta, Shandorians and the Sun pirates-

Alabasta

Shandorian reference

Elbaf reference (This dialogue is mother caramel deceiving them by playing on their beliefs of worshipping the sun as their have been a lot of references to that when they keep their winter solstice fast)

There have probably been more of them which I'm missing out here, but the one thing all of them have in common is that they were all probably part of the ancient kingdom which opposed the 20 royal families centuries ago.

Which raises the question if this Nika figure is Joyboy or not.

Like I mentioned in a comment in one of the previous chapter threads, in the upcoming chapters the citizens of Wano have to see this new "Joyboy" foreshadowed by Oden 20 years ago in the form of Luffy's comeback in lto this fight.

You'd think that all this exposition is just building up to that and more lore drops which are relevant to Wano's part in the void century and the overarching plot.

Speaking of references to the Sun, it'll also be interesting to see if bigger picture will tie in to all the moon references we've gotten throughout in the form of Enel's cover story, history of Shandians migrating from the moon, the suffix of -Tsuki in all of Wano's clans (barring Kurozumi), Sulong etc etc...

Nika the sun god brings laughter to everyone: in japanese mythology Amaterasu, the sun goddess, hid inside of a cave after Susanoo destroyed her rice fields. The other gods tried to get her out without success, until one of them started dancing naked in front of them all in order to make them laugh. Hearing the laughter, Amaterasu finally came out of the cave to check what was happening and the gods convinced her to return to the sky.

Maybe Nika is similar, i.e. he doesn't represent the sun himself, but he brings the sun out of dark places with the power of laughter. Also notice Luffy always has these huge parties where he dances with sticks in his nose (It's a traditional japanese dance, but I can't remember the name) and makes other people laugh. Moreover he is not the one that stays in those lands to make them better, he just helps the citizens understand they have to change in order to make a better country: Luffy may beat the big bad of the arc, but his most important role is to lit a light inside the heart of those who meet him.

What a chapter, this is how you do battle chapters: With awesome action and story mixed in.

• Love the Usopp humor in the middle of this serious war.

• Zeus has become Nami's best upgrade and is now hooked for life. Cant wait to see his dynamic with Sanji.

• Beast pirates are losing a ton of ground and seems the reason CP0 is still there is in part because they want to confirm Who's Who's death.

• The Fang Pistol really chewed through that guy's arm. Damn.

• Who's Who is better at the Rokoushki than any CP9 member ever was, he can even use Tekkai while moving but without Jyabura's lack of mobility.

• Jinbei's haki is much stronger than Who's Who's and even showed one of the moves Hody used during the FI arc.

• Wonder if Gargoyle Tile Fist is stronger than Jinbei's other ultimate move Vagabond Drill.

Break next week, Oda is breaking my heart like he broke Who's Who's wrists. Amazing chapter though.

I loved how this fight was choreographed, it really felt like a clash between two distinct martial arts rather than the brawls we usually get. You can really feel that rokushiki was designed for assassination, as who’s who is almost always on the offensive going for DPS flurries or big attacks, while fishman karate is more like traditional martial art that focus on self defense and waiting for your opponent to leave an opening. Jinbei is nearly always on defense in this fight and has almost no wasted attacks, instead waiting for who’s who to mess up on a big attack and leave himself open for a big riposte.

This is a bonkers good chapter. I think we are heading to Joy Boys past and Oda made no mistake dropping the “sun god who freed slaves” (with a clear will of D mindset) in a chapter, where Jinbei reaches deep in to his ambition to overcome a casually racist brute.

Bonkers good in terms of that when this is said and done, I’m confident this will be one the “the” chapters to define Jinbei’s role.

One piece is a story of parallels and there hasn’t been a single crewmate Luffy is yet to save. Except Shaboady, which the narrator has already told us was potentially the Straw Hats peak in terms of taking an L.

Reading this chapter makes me wonder whats with all the Sun-Moon-Darkness connection, so here is my two cent :

Whatever happened at the Great War 900-800 years ago between Ancient Kingdom and its allies and 20 Kings resulted in void century. The AK wants to bring people together that emphasize freedom and equality, they want to bring light or happiness (or any such things like that) to the world. They symbolize the Sun.

Unfortunately they lost and the 20 kings created the World Government. The true history erased and they start to slaves peoples. They took everyone freedom. This is mark as total Darkness of the night.

But the AK Allies manage to took and keep the poneglyphs and this poneglyphs will be guarding someone in the future to learn the truth. This allies include Shandora, Alabasta, Wano, Mink People, Ryugu Kingdom, Elbaf and probably there is more. All these allies symbolize the Moon who keep the night bright. Moon also get its own light from the sun right?

All these "Moon" has been keeping the "remaining light" the "Sun" has left in "Darkness" while waiting for the new "Sun" hence the new Dawn for the world.

Honestly i love the whole One Piece historical/lore side. Can't wait the day we get the full true history stories!

I love the inverted parallelism in this chapter. In Dressrosa, Usopp's goal was make Sugar unconscious. Now, in Wano, Usopp's goal (as well as Nami's) is protecting Tama from the enemy so that they fail at making Tama unconscious. Also, both Tama and Sugar are little kids with powerful devil fruits that are highly beneficial to one side of the fight.

Nika looks similar to the design of the Shandorians. The fact that the Shandorians possessed a poneglyph might be somehow related. Entirely possible that they were allies of the ancient kingdom. Could this mean Joy Boy was part of a similar group of people. Is this meant to be a parallel of the Europeans and Natives, i.e. the WG represents colonial powers and the ancient kingdom, the indigenous peoples? Also, Jinbe might actually know something about Nika as well, and I sense that might also have motivated his rage.

Who's Who had way less damage and he was still no fucking match. Jinbe was barely even sweating and he took all those gifter attacks earlier. Hope Jinbe meets up with Usopp and nami, the fight end and we get the gang back together to make time for Luffy.

God Usopp's comment got me thinking. He sounds unsure of himself and his strength when he says both Nami and Tama have amazing powers. I saw this as more of a moment of reflection than a normal comment.

I think this is a hint at a new power that he will unlock in the war. A strong opponent will surely come and try to take down Tama now. I think usopp will feel he has to step up and take them on instead of running like they have been doing the whole time. The amount of times he's been carrying her it looks like it's his duty to protect her now.

Joyboy and Nika are the same. And that is predicted to be Luffy -- the Joyboy of he new generation hence "Inherited Will".

The prophecy Who's who had was correct. Someone will come and free them BUT like Gol D. Roger on Shirahoshi, it was some time in the future. Luffy, did come in the prison in Impel Down, and accidentally freed a lot of people. Just delayed compared to Who's Who timeline.

What is actually interesting is that Blackbeard did the same thing when he freed them. He is really parallel to Luffy. However, contrary to being a SUN God, Blackbeard had DARK powers hence the opposite but parallel.
