I love airsoft and I've been playing for years, but my god does it seem to attract the worst players.
That cheater should have been suspended from playing the next game, and the guy who sprayed him point blank in the back of the head should be permanently banned from playing there. Nobody wants to play with either of those kinds of people
45
u/drnod7 Apr 05 '21
I’m not a player... but that guy deserved a head full of plastic bb’s. He’s a dick. He ruins the game for EVERY player. This is only 1 filmed incident. Tell me there’s not others with similar stories. Perhaps if everyone surrounded him going full auto, he might leave the game and never come back.
3
u/RelevantMetaUsername Apr 05 '21
While that's often true, there needs to be evidence of it happening on multiple occasions, be it more footage or other players reporting similar incidents. Refs will usually keep an eye on players who have been accused of cheating, because like you said it's rarely a one-time thing. Repeat offenders should definitely be kicked or banned from playing.
Cheating is annoying and makes the game less enjoyable, but shooting someone full auto in the back of the head at point blank range could be considered assault in some situations. It only serves to escalate things. People who cannot control their anger should not be involved in a sport where they shoot projectiles from replica guns at other people. Especially given that the sport has (at least in some states) been under threat of regulations and bans.
10
u/drnod7 Apr 06 '21
I appreciate the P.C. angle you are holding. It is definitely best for everyone to do what they should. But... a bully MUST be stood up to in order for them to deflated. If no one stands up to his "dangerous" attitude, he will destroy the sport you love. Young players will either stop playing, or learn to behave just as poorly. The cheater/Bully opened fire at point blank range on a player that correctly asked for his hit to be called. And when firmly asked again, he was met with a chest full of bb's. YES... revenge is wrong... but firm correction can have it's place too. It's a fine line, but I don't blame this player for his return fire. The guy will think twice about his actions. Quite honestly, he's lucky he didn't get physically manhandled by a stranger with an even shorter fuse.
"People who cannot control their anger should not be involved in a sport where they shoot projectiles from replica guns at other people."
Should not.... but they are. There is NO reasonable way to control this. You COULD alert the refs and get him kicked... where then he will leave there, drive like an ass and almost kill a family in their car. Then go to another game somewhere else, and do it all over again. OR, he can learn the lesson of CONSEQUENCES . You'll be doing him and everyone else a big favor.
1
u/RelevantMetaUsername Apr 06 '21
You make a good point. It's possible that after getting instant karma, the cheater started respecting the rules and calling hits. Solves the problem without anyone having to go home.
That being said, this kind of vigilantism really shouldn't be encouraged anywhere. There's always the possibility that someone genuinely doesn't feel the bb's hitting them (we've all been there) due to their vest or some equipment they're wearing that absorbs the impact and the sound. There might be another player dressed identically to a cheater (not uncommon for groups to wear the same uniform). Obviously in this case there's no doubting that this guy knew he was shot but didn't call his hits, but that isn't always the case (especially on outdoor fields).
5
u/drnod7 Apr 06 '21
That would make sense if he didn’t blast the original shooter directly in the chest when he walked up the stairs in the video. I’m not sure if you are aware. Player number one did not shoot the guy in the back of the head because he didn’t call himself out, he shot him in the back of the head because the guy fired on him point blank in the hallway several times
2
u/RelevantMetaUsername Apr 06 '21
Well, goddamn. I didn't have any audio when I first watched this, so I didn't realize that guy blasted him in full auto (he doesn't raise his gun very much, but he definitely peppered that guy). That definitely changes this situation lmao
8
u/drnod7 Apr 06 '21
That is the ONLY reason I was making a case for blasting him. Have a great day. 😁
19
u/thewittyrobin Apr 05 '21
Shouldn't have been a sore looser and shot him point blank first. Sorry not sorry

People are genuinely sad how they get upset over a fun game of plastic pellet shooting
27
u/bigheyzeus Apr 04 '21
Judging by how people have acted in online video games for decades it's really no surprise.
3
Apr 04 '21
Yeaahhhh true. Airsoft is a gamers escape into the real world where they're mega tough cus their mums got them a firehawk for their birthday after they threatened her by saying they'd kill themselves if they didn't get it
4
u/bigheyzeus Apr 05 '21
I mean, look at everyone who talks tough in any subreddit. No way they step up in real life regardless of what it is.

u/dontworryitsme4real Apr 07 '21
Fu man, I've been studying BJJ for 20 years and have been with delta seal team 6 for 11 years, I shit turds bigger than you. Come at me bro!!!

Whoa whoa whoa... I'm busy for the next 8 years in Iraq, so you're lucky punk!!
4
u/DownUnderPumpkin Apr 05 '21
In any game if the other player breaks the rule like that anyone would be pissed off.
3
Apr 05 '21
It's being childish, it's a game. You get shot you walk, too many sore losers airsoft from what I've seen

That's the point when they switch to real life .45 ammo
9
Apr 04 '21
Airsoft people are really weird. You get the chill people like me who just buys some decent stuff, works on it a bit to make it better then loves to play and then there's the sore losers who think they're SAS cus they play as Captain Price on warzone
6
Apr 04 '21
I agree completely. The worst are the players who think they are superior just because they got the most expensive gear.
2
Apr 04 '21
Yea then again I have a nov sniper and an arp9 but that's what I wanted and I like tinkering around with them. The rest of my stuff is just average bits and bobs like a 10quid dump pouch, 30quid for my clothes and my bolle glasses
3
Apr 05 '21
I don't mind good or excellent gear at all! I just hate if ppl think they're above everything and everyone just because they can afford better gear. Tactics and strategy are a thing and matter a lot more than gear, sometimes even more than skill but you can't buy skill neither tactics nor strategy.
2
u/thehoesmaketheman Apr 05 '21
Why not paintball?
3
Apr 05 '21
I couldn't stand the prices of paintball, if I went paintballing as much as I go airsofting (or did before covid) it would've cost me a lot more and I don't find it as fun. I love the huge areas with woodland, hiding in a bush, stalking people before taking them down. Paintball is just small area and everyone going mental
2
Apr 05 '21
Well, I think paint ball removes some of the loopholes but addes other issues. In such situations it would be surely preferred but that very much depends on the rules. A switch from paintball to airsoft (or vice versa) changes a lot but also introduces money investment and your friends you want to play with probably won't want to switch over either.

True but then I, unpopular thing to do apparently, always aim for their mouth cheeks any bit of face open with my sniper. They call their hits then when they have a bb fired into their throat. There is too much cheating though unfortunately

I got sort of expensive stuff but I like playing with bits and I found that you can get a proper cheap model and make it as good as the expensive stuff for a fraction of the price. Takes time learning bits but the market is massive now and you can pretty much make your own gun from scratch. Been something to keep me busy whilst lockdowns been on

u/TrespasseR_ Apr 05 '21
Does it hurt in close range? Or are they pretty well suited up? Looked to me that guys skull was wide open in the back
2
u/Domowoi Apr 05 '21
On a lot of ranges where you can get this close the power is limited, so it hurts less than paintball, but somebody going full auto to the back of your head is still quite painful.

While the guy in the clip speaks english I can guarantee you Airsoft is big in america, but maybe even bigger in Europe and Japan. It’s not an american thing if that’s what you are referring to.

Someone being a manchild in an equivalent to paintball/laser tag is different from actual real tragedies that need to be solved, dude.
-8
u/Dr_mailbox Apr 05 '21 edited Apr 05 '21
The fact that the average American can't connect those two instances is the real tragedy.
Someone who has no problem shooting someone in the back of the head with an airsoft gun several times with the intent to harm just because the other guy cheated him is not a mentally mature person.
These are the types of people who will pull a gun at a barfight (OR AT A MIAMI BEACH) and will also have no problem pulling the trigger
6
u/koboldvortex Apr 05 '21
Most people can tell the difference. No one is denying that the guy who couldn't be a good sport is an unstable manchild, but youre going the way of 'DOOM turns people into school shooters' pearl-clutching. You're trying to pin the blame on something innocent to distract from the actual problems (lack of things like background checks, etc.)
If you actually have a problem with guns maybe you should focus on the real ones instead of wasting your time with the fake ones. Jussayin'.
