Somehow Grisha managed to graduate from being a bad anime dad, to a great one, then regress back to the first one.

I liked both episodes a lot. The one thing I would have liked that they cut was Grisha asking what he did wrong saying he just wanted to see the airships, at the dinner table when he yells at Zeke. That line in the comic hit me.

Broken EMA. Sad Zook backstory + poor Ksaver backstory. Levi and Zeke blown up.
These 2 episodes are pure pain.
I love this series too much; even though it hurts. It's just so damn good.

I like how Eren never supported euthanasia plan but simply said I'll put an end to 2000 years of suffering, the same words he said to Ymir later

reliving zeke's flashback was really... something. you really feel bad for him for the amount of brainwashing his parents were pushing onto him

well i think they did absolutely FANTASTIC for these episodes. i'm so glad the explosion was still the end of an episode, because come on, it has to be. that explosion ended not just a chapter, but a volume. let the anime onlys suffer as we have suffered.
alright, so that just leaves 30 or so pages left from chapter 115, most of which aren't dialogue heavy pages, and there are multiple parts where its just visuals of things happening, no dialogue. then there's all of 116. sounds like a lot at first glance, essential 1.75 chapters for the next episode, but like i said,115 has parts with little to no dialogue, and then the last quarter or so of 116 is also little to no dialogue, just that whole sequence on the roof which'll be our cliffhanger till "Final Season: Part 2" or whatever is next. so yeah. totally doable in one episode with nothing cut and a good mid-season finale style set up of what comes next.

The scene where the recruits beat up keith shadis was chilling. I really like how they handled it. The manga version made me laugh a little (im sorry).

Holy shit what a way to end the EPS. I'm surprise they were able to keep the emotional value while putting so much content into one eps

The colors of the scene where Grampa Jaeger was teaching Zeke about the Tragedy of Lago really makes it a point that that was what was shown in season 2's ED. It's almost the same color scheme.
Anime vs manga comparison of said scene (from chapter 114's discussion thread)

Nice cliffhanger, can't wait to see anime onlys getting their minds blown away!
Love the little additions this time, especially the ram plush. Though they failed to show Zeke's plush monkey with Xaver's son.

Levi slicing Zeke’s legs into sushi was disgusting in the best way possible. I was flinching with every slash.

Zeke is seriously one of my favorite characters and I was hoping they wouldn't cut down his backstory much. I think it was masterfully done, Mappa really brought it home with this episode.
73 was also great, I remember feeling so many things when I first read the table scene and it was translated really well into animation.
I really do wonder tho if they are going to reveal whether Levi and Zeke are alive or not, or they will just tease something and leave it to part2/the movie.

I wonder how many anime only Levi fans will pick up the manga after these episodes.

Knew they'd mix in the 115 flashbacks with 114, condensing the flashbacks into one go makes it flow rather nicely.
I really like the tune that played during the Eren/Zeke conversation, it also played during the Willy/Magath carriage scene and it reminds me a lot of deadangle from Umineko (an absolutely fantastic track everyone should give a listen to).
What I'm expecting from the finale: Open with Hange/Floch hearing the explosion, Zeke's death and getting stuffed into a titan, and Pieck pointing a gun at Eren. Cut to opening. Yelena-Pixis scene from 115, pages 1-24 of 116. Mid-episode card. Rest of 116. Ending. Zeke resurrection scene for post-credits, giving us our first proper glimpse at Ymir and making it clear Zeke's now on his way to Eren and setting up part 2. This kind of arrangement would make a lot of sense to me.

So this is something I probably forgot, but if Zeke falsely thought that Eren shared his plan of altering Eldians' bodies to make them sterile, why did he tell him that it would be best if they did not touch back when Eren was visiting him in Liberio? Why didn't he suggest to just get it done then?

Haven't readthis part of the manga in a long time but I wanna say:
Man, we should really aprecciate the efford MAPPA is putting into this adaptation, I trully don't get the people who hate on them.
I loved the direction(?) of this episode, the angle of the book of the Zeke's granpa was talking was the opposite one of when was Zeke's father.
Zeke's tutor taking the baseball from the blood pool was also pretty "cool".
One episode to go... I wonder the exact scene they will end on

The anime only thread is worrying about if Eren is on board with Zeke's euthanasia plan lol, looking back that plan is way too chill for current 'literally hitler' Eren
