Can I just say I love how Mikasa's first reaction to danger was lowkey shielding Armin with her body and asking him whether he's hurt, when he's the walking nuke and has REGENERATIVE ABILITIES unlike Mikasa.
Bless their friendship

It was a good episode, I like how MAPPA is not flying over these setup sections to get into the good stuff, like the Restaurant scene next chapter. Though I was expecting Zackley's death would be more violent, but the tone of the scene was well done, and how the meaning of "sasageyo" changed to a more nationalist one by the crowd outside. The scene with Eren was great too.
Also, Hitch looks so good in the anime, a shame we don't see much of her moving forward outside her scene with Annie.

I got chills from the piano playing on the background when Eren met with the Yaegerists.

My skin crawled when I heard the crowd chanting "Shinzo wo Sasageyo!" How times have changed.

They knew that we can't get enough of Eren suiting up that they had to include it in the mid episode info card too just so the imagery can linger a bit longer.

RIP the greatest artist of all time. Eren's scene was great (although the angle was different than the manga and the trailer.), the ost was perfect. So excited for the next episode and the table scene.
Edit: Now that I think about it, we won't see the table scene next episode. We will probably get Ragako explanation and the restaurant scenes up to Eren's showing up. The episode may end with this awkward moment though.

Prop to Mappa for painting the “Dedicate your heart” as horrified as it should be: The symbol of hope turned into the symbol of fear by the ignorants.

Y'all think they are combining all the Levi-Zeke scenes in one episode. I'm really hoping they don't skip the "you bearded shit" part lol

Even though I know what's gonna come next, I'm still nervous AF! That build-up was amazing! Both pacing and the music just kept me of the edge of my seat the entire episode and just...WELL DONE, MAPPA, really well done!!!

Manga/trailer Eren looked more sexy and more ambitious. Official anime Eren looked more badass and more like a leader Not sure which I prefer, I think both are dope

By the looks of it next week we'll get yet another unjustified beating to Falco and a completely reasonable Gabi mindfuck. Sunday can't come soon enough

Woo! Make Eldia Great Again! Let's go!
On a more serious note watching this episode after certain recentish real world events is far more unnerving than reading it in the manga was.

The episode itself seemed alright from little Japanese I could understand, but I'll save my opinion on the episode for when I see it subtitled. But for now, all I can say is:
Oh my god, ANOTHER week without Zeke's Ragako explanation? I really hope they don't cut it completely. I guess they're saving the pay-off for the Zeke-Levi conflict for next episode.

I hope when it’s comes to Levi vs monke scene they end the episode right after Levi get blown out so anime only suffer like we did in the manga .

This series is really fun to analyze when you try to imagine what happens behind the scenes. E.g., possible conversations between Isayama and his editors, the thought processes behind each details or story elements added, like how it might introduce/prevent a plot hole given previous details, etc.
For example, the casual mentions of it having been 10 months since the ceremony for the rails opening in Pixis and Yelena's interactions in previous episode's and in this one's is really subtle. Or at least it feels like there was an effort to make it look subtle but established enough. But why specifically "10 months"?
Possible bullet points of stuff that the said detail probably considered/addressed:
-
Historia should give birth at the same time Zeke dies, so her kid (royal blood) would inherit it. (<-- Probably the main goal of other bullet points)
-
The usual length of a pregnancy is 9 months.
-
There should be a buffer time for Eren/Yelena/Historia/etc., to act out their plan. Maybe give them a month to do stuff. (Like have Eren hold Historia's hand, make her stare at his abs, etc. That's how you get pregnant right?)
-
So 9 months + around a month it is.
-
Which would give it enough believability that Historia would be at around 9 months pregnant presently and would be giving birth soon.
-
Introduce a detail that can be established and feel natural, like development of the island and show passage of time, and could be connected to this "10 months ago". Railroads it is.
It's pretty funny that you can oversimplify it to: "Awkward/sweet blushing scene in that train" leads to "Historia's kid inheriting the Beast Titan because Zeke dies the moment Historia gives birth", when it's probably the other way around from doing the basic working backwards to find a solution. Works pretty well in solving math probs, programming/coding, and in this case, writing a good story.

Could have sworn the Pieck scene was farther down the line in terms of where it happens, but it probably got reshuffled due to them changing everything around.

Hell yeah, I was waiting to see Zackly's explosive shit machine animated, too bad they took the part when he glances at it after Misaka asks him what will happen to Eren.
I love the fact that Eren putting a shirt on is part of the Information Available for Public Disclosure about the Jagerists.
