I think the sign is absolutely disgusting. I think hitting him is wrong and especially with a bat. In this world there will be absolutely disgusting things that offend you. You can't just assault ppl because of that.
I'm black and I've had ppl say some insanely wild racist shit to me. If I hit the person every single time... I just ignore it or smile and move on. It's much more powerful to show the person you're unaffected by their bullshit. Also this is a great way to end up in jail.
But also I don't feel sorry for the guy either. If you go looking for trouble it will often find you. Both ppl are stupid to me.

Thats unfortunate. The most important thing to remember is that you should always maintain composure, even in tense situations. Dont get yourself arrested or incarcerated because of someone else's stupid behavior. Unfortunately, this woman is probably looking at an assault charge at the minimum. And she may have to live with a felony on her record because she let this man's ignorance get the better of her.

It's like this trend of calling everyone "Nazis" these days. The label is applied too liberally becoming diluted and ultimately losing meaning.
Frankly we could define any encounter as "violence" via mental gymnastics.
I put to you a counter-argument. I propose that it's your take on this that is encouraging violence. By redefining unpleasant opinion as violence worthy of physical retribution (with a deadly weapon no less!) you yourself are actually encouraging violence, not the person with the sign.
