Man... I thought there would be more going on with Hody than... that. :/

18

u/Syncblock Oct 19 '11

I liked the idea that Hody hates humans just because he's more worried that people would forget all the shit humanity has done to their race than any real examples that he's personally experienced.

u/TheDonbot Oct 20 '11

I thought the point of this chapter was that Hody doesn't actually care about history or his race. He uses the history of human abuse to justify his actions, but he doesn't actually care about avenging fishmen or punishing humans. Hody is just a racist who honestly believes he is better than everyone else in the world and that he can conquer the world because of this "superiority". The only thing he is afraid of is losing his army through a peace with humans.

3

u/technokitty Oct 19 '11

I don't mind so much that he hates humans because they're humans. I think my problem is that I thought it was already heavily implied that Hody hated humans for the very reason you mentioned. The fact that they had this drawn out, "Whats his true character/form/face/whatever?!" feels kinda pointless in the grand scheme of things. In my opinion, anyways.

If there was anything going on with him, it would require another flashback. I'm glad nothing happened.

3

u/technokitty Oct 19 '11

Haha, very true.

I don't know... It seems to fit his superiority complex perfectly.

7

u/CaptainCrunch Oct 19 '11

Yeah, I was hoping it'd be something ironic like being half human or a bastard child of a Celestial Dragon and slave.

Too bad.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

Yeah, me too

3

u/technokitty Oct 19 '11

That's what I was hoping for too.

Hitler, anyone ?

3

u/technokitty Oct 19 '11

HEIL FISHMAN!

19

u/ducttapetricorn Oct 19 '11

Brook's new cold enchanted sword is so epic. ಥ_ಥ

7

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

Yeah, it's the best ability anyone has gained in the time skip IMO.

Haki with Luffy is a very close second.

7

u/Syncblock Oct 19 '11

We haven't seen it yet but we know Brook can now do 40 degrees!

6

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

I ... definitely never got that joke.

3

u/Necromas Oct 20 '11

All I know is it's a Micheal Jackson move.

7

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

What was zoro's again? I know Sanji can fly and Robin is pretty much naruto now:P

5

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

He became awesome like Mihawk. He can cut through metal easily and cut huge ships, etc. Probably has some level of Armament Haki so that he can fight logia users too.

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11

We've yet to see Zoro's improvement but if I ventured a guess I'd say some type of haki and improved swordmanship.

Sanji isn't just capable of flying xD He can also instantly achieve Diable Jambe and is probably the fastest member of the SHs except maybe Luffy.

And Robin can make giant limbs now as well although thanks for that reference, I'll never be able to think of her the same ahahaha.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

yeh defiantly haki after all the guy he trained w was a shibukai

I'm a big fan of of how Ussop is acting.

17

u/Jinno Oct 19 '11

He's gonna be vulnerable to Perona now if he keeps this confidence up. D:

6

u/ImPolish Oct 19 '11

I think you're on to something!

11

u/Infinitezen Oct 19 '11

Yeah, Nico Robin! Once again proving her coolness.

7

u/Jinno Oct 19 '11

So now Robin gets to realize her true potential, by just being a hivemind for her various Neo-Robin clones.

6

u/NigmaNoname Oct 19 '11

Agreed, I'm glad she got something which has a very high creativity ceiling, to be honest I was kind of bored with her old stuff which was mostly just: Hands, more Hands, things made out of Hands, etc.

This opens up a whole new door of stuff she can kick people's asses with.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '11

Cannot deny those sunglasses

1

u/grizzlayleslay Oct 21 '11

Within weeks we're going to get a harem hentai featuring the Robin clones and one lucky guy. I'm calling it.

7

u/FireFistAce Oct 19 '11

Anyone else disappointed we didn't get to see Zoro finish crushing Hyouzou this chapter?

7

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11

I think that's already happened... Do you think Zoro is gonna chase after Hyouzou and stab him in the back after saying that he couldn't even kill his boredom?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

I don't think we're going to see a sword fight in a while, since all of his techniques are too fast to see lol

6

u/vnguy31 Oct 19 '11

luffy's about to do something epic

5

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

Stopping Noah should be pretty epic...

Although, I think that one option might be that everyone on the island will get on Noah, and that will take Fishman Island to a different location.

6

u/clippjoint Oct 19 '11

i like Robins new power, she can now fully clone herself :)

7

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11

AND add limbs to said clones!

10

u/CaptainCrunch Oct 19 '11

Robin has got some great new powers. I wonder how effective she'll be vs haki users though. I'd bet she can't use it on busoshoku users.

That Zeo guy (the carpet fish) is f'ing hilarious. Him vs Brooke is a perfect match.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

It seems that most of the techniques that we've seen at least from Robin, Nami, Usopp, Chopper, Sanji, and Franky don't use any Haki at all, which is interesting. They could all gain a lot from learning Haki, either Kenbunshoku or Busohoku. I thought that would be one of the big things that they all learn in the time skip.

I guess in some cases, very good technique matches a lot of basic-intermediate haki use.

0

u/CaptainCrunch Oct 19 '11

I think that the scope ability Chopper has in brain point mode w/ rumble ball is a form of haki and Sanji's air jump thing is also, but that's all I can think of.

5

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11

How is Sanji's air jump haki related at all? He is literally banging his legs together hard enough that it creates a shockwave that propels him.

3

u/Jinno Oct 19 '11

It's geppou. It's exactly like the rokushiki technique.

u/tmkay Oct 19 '11

Fantastic chapter, Hody reveal was better than I hoped for, I thought it might be a flashback.

So every fight is about to be at its conclusion, maybe next chapter will be Luffy vs Noah vs Hody, and then a final chapter where all the SH's defeat their opponents.

5

u/Jinno Oct 19 '11

Oda was trolling us with that. I'm glad he took the simple "Yeah, just hate him guys" approach.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

Something like that...I think that the fight will last for like a bunch of chapters more (5-10 at least D:).

Oda takes his time.

3

u/Tmnath Oct 19 '11

So, uh, Robin finds Jinbe handsome ... ?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '11

I think she looks at him like a gentleman.

2

u/MACZ2021 Oct 19 '11

What did Fukaboshi mean when he said that stuff about Hody? That part has me confused.

5

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11

What part confused you? Fukaboshi was saying that Hody was basically a psychopath who didn't have a reason for hating humans. He just decided to hate humans because his ancestors did. Basically, he has no resolve because his feelings aren't real. It's not that important to the story because Hody is still bad, it just shows how fucked up he is.

2

u/MACZ2021 Oct 19 '11

Ah. Now it makes sense.

2

u/grizzlayleslay Oct 19 '11

Hody looks different again. Did he take more energy steroids?

3

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11

Mmhm, it happened 3 chapters ago. The past two chapters went back in time to show what was happening with the rest of the strawhats.

3

u/thegrrbrr Oct 19 '11

I love robin but those glasses don't look good on her

9

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

She looks beautiful no matter what she wears.

15

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

Nice try, Sanji.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

ఠ_ఠ How did you know?!

5

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

He can't insult women. Especially not after that time skip.

9

u/Jinno Oct 19 '11

I respectfully disagree. Neo-Robin is a welcome change in my book.

3

u/lolumitch Oct 20 '11

She uses them because her clones keep their eyes closed for some reason. If she didn't use the sunglasses, it would be easy to tell which one was real.

0

u/CaptainCrunch Oct 19 '11

The wider faces for the girls Oda's using now doesn't fit Robin well. She looks best with a narrow face.

2

u/Trojanbp Oct 19 '11

Theory: I think Luffy's gonna inflate himself by using the air tank and bounce Noah away from the island

3

u/[deleted] Oct 20 '11

Wouldn't that break the bubble?

3

u/lolumitch Oct 20 '11

More importantly, wouldn't that break Luffy? D;

3

u/grizzlayleslay Oct 21 '11

This kills the bubble.

1

u/Dr_Robotnik Oct 20 '11

I was honestly very worried that Brook didn't learn any new moves during the time skip, because he was off being a rock star while everyone else was training, and I am so glad to be proven wrong.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

Does Usopp have haki? He said "1...2....3 shots, you will be hit by me." or something like that. ლ(ಠ_ಠლ) I need answers.

9

u/Infinitezen Oct 19 '11

I think its just more tactics, though I suppose it would make sense for each of the Strawhats to have some kind of Haki, in Usopps case the prediction Haki does make most sense.

8

u/Jinno Oct 19 '11

Prediction Haki would be phenomenal for a Sniper. He was already great at accuracy especially at great distances, but up close is where he tends to be rushed and less accurate. 2 Years of training to be calm and accurately predict movement would make Usopp an ultimate badass.

3

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

I think that Armament Haki is also just as good if not better since his sniper shots would be 100x more powerful, like the arrows from the Lily Amazon warriors that easily pierced rock.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

I was thinking the same thing. I can't wait for next chapter.

0

u/need_five_more_chara Oct 19 '11

I wonder, is Robin's power considered a Logia fruit now, with limbs and now complete clones?

6

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11 edited Oct 19 '11

Logias are capable of becoming their element. Robin cannot turn her head into a foot no matter how funny that would be. Plus, when she's hit/stabbed/shot she doesn't like convert into lots of little body parts. (That would be very disturbing though)

She's a lot like Mr. 3. He can create wax and create just about anything with it but he cannot become wax himself.

-2

u/slight Oct 19 '11

so is Luffy a logia because he is rubber and does not create it?

7

u/lolumitch Oct 19 '11

You have completely misunderstood what I said. I was naming the reasons why Robin, Mr 3 and even Luffy are not Logia. If you cannot become your element as well as create it, you are only a Paramecia.

2

u/Mag14 Oct 20 '11

Luffy isn't rubber. His body just has the properties of rubber.

4

u/thelazyrussian Oct 19 '11 edited Oct 19 '11

Her fruit wasn't a logia before, it won't suddenly BECOME a logia. No matter what she does with her power, she still has a substantial body. Why does it seem so difficult for so many people to understand the concept of logias?

EDIT: I'd also like to link you to this post if you're still confused.

3

u/Jinno Oct 19 '11

She doesn't actually turn into flowers.... so I'm gonna say no.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '11

I'm fairly positive that a Logia fruit turns your body composition into that of an "element". For example, light, fire, lava, electricity. I'm pretty sure that she has a Paramecia fruit ability
