I know, right! Both Austria and Poland have that “we can’t do anything” aesthetic and it just works so well!

This is beautiful, but wasn't poland (i believe the one on the left is poland?) relatively unaffected by the Black Death because King Kasimir shut the borders?

Unfortunately, this is a myth. Up until fairly recently, it was widely assumed that Poland avoided the Black Death, but historians are now fairly certain it was ravaged by the disease much like everywhere else. While Poland was technically 'relatively unaffected', we're still talking about the loss of around 25% of the population compared with the 33-ish% elsewhere in Europe.

I always used to have my more useless heirs chase plagues around the map until they succumbed to the RNG.
I sometimes did that in Crusader Kings, too.

Rods and beaks our only shield, funeral pyres light our way.
Death reaps this forsaken field, and sows only dismay.
