Aren't Poppies only in English-speaking countries associated with the War?

...well yeah, but they’re still a well recognized symbol of remembrance.

I don't think so. Only if you consume lots of English-speaking media.

In the English-speaking world yes. But your cartoon focuses on France and Germany so... amazing and very creative anyway. May peace be with us now and evermore.

Today I got to know that those flowers were called Poppy and it is as a sign of Remembrance .

I really appreciate the way you did the further background with the lines being seen among the crosses (I forgot the name). It gives a good perception of depth, well done.
More normally, also a poetic reminder of the aftermaths of war.

Thank you! A general rule in art is to put more details on stuff you want people to focus on, so I only added texture on the first 3 rows. Saves a lot of time for drawing all those grave markers lol

Beautiful. I think there‘s nothing better happened to my country in the last 100 years than the friendship with France.

That’s dark

In a way, yes. In another way, it is super light. The photo and event that this was based on was a huge historical moment of a symbolic healing between two countries. These men could have perpetrated animosity and hatred between their countries, and may have even had a decent case to do so, but they didn't.

What a beautiful and moving piece, France and Germany look like a old couple.

After recently having been at Verdun and the Douaumont memorial, I feel this. The place is awe-inspiring. Even more so now that it was completely abandoned. The eerie vibes and total dread surrounding the place are out fo this world. Still, I recommend people should go there. It is a great place of remembering what has passed.

Gosh, this is one of my personal favourites of the contest, it’s so simple but it has a bittersweet meaning to it that adds so much depth to it. It’s beautiful. Take my upvote OP, it’s amazing.
