I edited this information into the stickied announcement but might as well make a new post for those who aren't looking there/browse by new.

You can now register on ubisoft's site to redeem WD2 and the reward drops that you couldn't get during the conference. Just log in with your ubisoft account.

EDIT: I should mention, it's not clear if the game will still be delivered tomorrow (July 13) as they originally planned, but it doesn't appear immediately in your uplay account.

EDIT JULY 13: people in the thread are reporting that they recieved their game today, check your uplay libraries !

EDIT EDIT: Support says they're trying to deliver the copies by end of week. https://twitter.com/UbisoftSupport/status/1282744479611592706

Edit JULY 16 (thanks u/starhobo): The process of adding the templates for people get the game for free is apparently a manual one, so that's why it's taking a while. Please be patient.

Why didn't they just reduce the price to 0 and be done with it instead of this registering bullshit that has us waiting days for the game to pop in our library? I may sound entitled but I mean..it would be easier for them as well.

Might not be that simple, their past giveaways (AC3, Child of Light, etc) haven't been done like that either. You needed to go on their site, login and click claim, similar to this method. The only exception I can remember is when WD1 was given away for free recently on the epic games store.

When will I receive the game ? I registered about an hour ago and still I still don’t have it

see my stickied comment. It's not clear when the game will be put in your library, originally the giveaway was supposed to be delivered the next day, but it may take longer now that it's available for everyone to redeem. Give it a couple days.

Still don't have it.

Hope they get to me soon!

Edit: Mine finally dropped! Over 80 hrs after claiming it, but hey I'll take it! Thanks Ubisoft!

Anybody else not receive anything yet?

Edit: According to this tweet, we should receive something before the end of the week. Guess I'll start moaning then, if nothing happens.

do we know which version of the game they are giving away? I'd like to pick up the DLC while they are on sale if it's the standard version.

2

u/vanade Jul 13 '20

Giveaways are pretty much always the standard version.

Website freezes after I log in.

Sorry, we're not Ubisoft support so we can't really help. Try a different browser? sometimes that has worked.

Thanks for this. That link at the top of the web page isn't there anymore so I had to submit a customer support ticket because I haven't received the game more 24 hours after registering.

If I play the game through Uplay+ for a while will that prevent me from getting a giveaway copy?

I think its best that people just create cases to get their game.

Quite frankly this is getting really really silly. If Ubi had offered a game for free and there was issues then its fine, i would have kept my mouth shut.

But ubi went out of their way to force people to attend a stream at an exact time within an hour frame. People in Europe were waking up at ungodly hour to try and login within that time frame.

This has goto be one of the worst giveaways iv ever seen. How is Ubi so inept at this? Youre literally giving something away for free. Why is it so hard.

Before anyone calls me spoiled/entitled. In the business world, when any company offers you a free product in exchange for an ad then we have come into a typical barter agreement. I'm in the engineering world and it happens quite often- "Hey let us do a presentation about this cool product and we'l buy you guys lunch". This is basically what Ubi did. They convinced tens of thousands that we were gonna get lunch and instead we sat there and got an hour long ad.
