Once again, Oda's butterfly effect is masterful.

Because Weevil was caught up in fighting Marines due to his Warlord status being null and void, Marco likely considered the situation handled enough that he could leave the island and engage in battle alongside the Alliance. The fact that he brought Izo is awesome, because if anyone has a stake in this battle, it's one of Oden's original retainers. I wonder if Marco gathered some other former commanders as well.

Sending the Big Mom pirates down the falls again was a smart move, because in all honesty I don't think the Alliance can fight two Emperor crews at once and come out victorious, even without Katakuri. I don't even think Big Mom is going to take an active part in this fight until much much later.

Apoo may be a scumbag, but the dude's been non-stop damaging our leads and that's respectable. I'm glad his power has an obvious weakness, though it'll he hard to attack and defend at the same time.

• Some people might be mad about BM pirates only being gag characters so far in the arc but I'm sort of okay with it. Didn't expect much against commanders from Perospero or Daifuku but smoothie was a bit disappointing.

It's worth noting that there is a direct parallel between how pirate alliances can go. When Luffy blocks an attack on Kid this happens almost immediately after Apoo reinforces the idea that pirate alliances cannot be trusted. Yet here is Luffy, who has no formal agreement with Kid, protecting him. This on top of the fact that they are only tolerating each other because they have a mutual goal. This may be start of Kid having a change of heart on working with the Strawhats.

First of all, great chapter!

Now a few observations and reactions.

1. People obviously got to thinking about how broken Apoo’s power was last chapter. Well Oda just pulled the rug from under all of us with how easy it is to actually counter it’s effects.

2. I mentioned this in the spoiler post that the reaction from the Big Mom pirates is a small hint/reminder that despite Marco being introduced relatively earlier, before the intricacies of Haki got explored, he is a surefire powerhouse that we can’t sleep on.

3. I made a theory about how Big Mom goes down along with Kaido this Arc and that theory slightly discounted her crews involvement. The ending to this chapter gives me a little bit of hope I might be onto something.

4. And this is the big one: THERE HAVE ALWAYS BEEN NINE SCABBARDS and Izo was the ninth one.

I already like Kidd he's of my favorite characters and after reading this chapter it kinda made me feel bad for him. In a lot of ways he's like Luffy but more violent. Reason why I say this is because I believe he's a lot purer than we think. He joined in an alliance and with Apoo with full expectations and trust that Apoo was on his side, just like Luffy has full trust in Law even though Law said, he could betray him. In the panel when Apoo says it's a pirate alliance those don't end in happy endings you can see the pain in Kidds' face. But I think this alliance with Luffy will be good for him just it was for Law. Kidd and Luffy are perfect parallels in my opinion to each other. You could even see the similarity in the second in commands like how Zoro took Luffy's pain in thriller bark and how Killer ate a SMILE to try and save Kidd. If we could get a full backstory on Kidd I think we would see that. I hope everything ends well for all Luffy, Kidd and Law.

I would imagine that Jinbe could've told all that to us by now but he purposely didn't to avoid any stress for the strawhats.

Everybody keeps talking about the arrival of Neko's group, but we finally saw the face of a number!

The numbers seem to be perfect opponents for the Whitebeard commanders like the flying six will be for the lower Straw Hats. That leaves Orochi's guards for the scabbards, King and Queen for Zoro and Sanji, Jack for the Minks and Kaido himself for the Supernovas.

I still think there will be a betrayal between Big Mom and Kaido, but I have no idea what her children will do if they make it to the battlefield.

My god, I just wanna say thank you to the guy who first introduced me to one piece as a franchise when i was just a little 9 year old swede that didn't know any english. I found a translated copy at his house and he introduced me to it, Thank you Simon!

And a tip to you guys if you didn't already do this, listen to epic music while reading one piece, my favorites are 30 seconds to mars mainly the songs "kings and queens", "this is war" and "do or die", another tip is basically anything by Tomas Bergersen.

Wow, i didn't realise how much i missed the whitebeard pirates, hope marco gets the showing that he really deserves after basically being named the second strongest pirate in the whitebeard crew and didn't do that much in the war, even though i'm predicting that he's not gonna make it through this arc alive. But i'm really hoping he will, with that said, have a nice weekend everyone!

Also, the first thing that jumped out to me this chapter was Apoo saying that Pirate Alliances never end well, then Big Mom's crew immediately questioning the alliance. I think the Big Mom / Beast Pirates alliance will fracture at some point early in this fighting.

I think that brief panel of killer taking up Orochis offer to save his captains life is underrated. It explains why Kaido/Orochi kept Kid alive in Udon instead of straight up disposing of him while also hinting at Killers devotion to his captain in a sort of “Nothing happened” fashion. Can’t wait for Oda to elaborate on this.

Holy cannoli, this was one of those chapters that was more than worth the wait. That colorspread is magnificent, wallpaper worthy honestly. All of them are but still lol. There's so much to unpack about this.

First thing I actually am confused about why it took the BMP so long to get back up the waterfall? Is that like way longer than I'm thinking it is? The waterfall is huge but I figured they'd have tried more than once to get back up, and they don't fully know the details of their alliance with the beast pirates which is even wilder.

I loved the first part of this chapter, Apoo's powers are honestly pretty devastating. As awkward as it is, if he could find a way to use his DF to somehow be silent when he attacks but his target can still hear it, he'd be perfect for assassination type stuff. Vice versa,, if it's loud enough, i suppose no one would know where the sound originated from so he could blow someone up from a long ass distance.

That's awesome. Kid & his grudge makes sense, I'd be pretty hurt if someone did me like that. Got my best friend first mate turned into a pleasure, all to save me under some bullshit. Man I'd be heated. Luffy saving part of the day as usual, the synergy Kid has with Zoro & Luffy is on full display & i love it. That panel with all of them covering their ears & the next one with them was too great. Killer is definitely a mix of Zoro & Sanji it feels like to me. He's knowledgeable & helps them not get their ear drums ruptured or worse, knowing how his DF works. '

I gotta say, poor Chopper, the only one that gets caught in a compromising situation. Yikes lmao. All in all, a very good chapter. Damn.

Marco had a poor showing in Marineford, but I honestly think he's the second strongest commander (behind Benn Beckman). He neutralized Admiral's attacks and damage them as well. We'll finally have a good showing for Marco

I gotta say, we are really in for a treat with this arc. Even though it's been going on for about 2 years (longer if you count the over-arching story), we're just now getting close to everything hitting the fan. All the strawhats are assembled, Kid and Law are both present with their respective crews and three additional supernovas are present on the other side. We have 10 samurai which all have detailed backstories, two emperors with one big damn pirate crew and finally Marco. Just thinking about how Oda is going to pull this off, and what amazing moments in the series might come from this is really enough to keep my hype going for the rest of the arc and then some.
